SOAK UP LAKE LIFE

Middleton is located on one of

Wisconsin’s iconic lakes—Lake

Mendota—and there are several ways

you can get on the water to soak in

the sun or take in views of the state

capitol. Here are a few of our favorite

ways to experience Lake Mendota.

Marshall Boats Board & Boat Rentals

has a fleet of kayaks, canoes,

paddleboards and pontoon boats

available for rent in Marshall Park. The

business also operates a café, offers

lessons and hosts special events.

Boaters who come with their own

watercraft will find some nice places

to launch a boat in and around

Middleton: the Lake Street Boat

Ramp, the Marshall Park Boat Ramp

and the small boat launch at Mendota

County Park .

If you would like to stay on shore to

relax, head to Mendota County Park .

The park has a 30-unit campground

and a five-unit boat campground as

well as a swimming area, volleyball

courts and play equipment.

For a pleasant stroll, explore the

Pheasant Branch Creek Corridor Trail .

The paved trail follows a meandering

creek that feeds Lake Mendota.

HISTORY

Rowley House Museum

UNCOVER

MIDDLETON’S

RICH PAST

History is alive in Middleton, a

community that traces its past to

1832, when a fur trading post was

built at what is now Mendota County

Park & Campground .

Today, you’ll find Middleton’s beautiful

historic charm in sites and buildings

sprinkled throughout the city, many of

which are still businesses.

Middleton’s Native American history

can be found at Pheasant Branch

Conservancy —view effigy mounds

and see where Blackhawk camped in

1832.

Begin your historical journey at the

Middleton Visitor Center, located

in the historic Depot . The visitors’

area is a nod to times long passed and is

where you can find brochures, walking

tour maps and a historic display.
