Taking Care of COVID Patients
“It is an honor” is the sentiment our Magnet® recognized
nursing staff share when they describe taking care of
our patients, especially those with COVID-19 during the
pandemic. Throughout the uncertainty and newness of
the virus, our nursing staff adapted quickly and safely to
care for COVID-19 patients, who require more one-on-one
care, which means they are personally invested in the
overall well-being of the patient. With immense pride
and dedication, the nursing team worked hard to care for
all of our patients during the pandemic, and they did so
without compromising the quality of care they provide.
The Joy of Going Home
After 43 days in the hospital – many in the ICU –
COVID-19 patient Paulin Goulet successfully left the
hospital for his next level of care and eventually home.
Taking care of every patient is truly a team effort, but
caring for a COVID-19 patient required exceptional
coordination and communication among the entire team.
When Paulin was being wheeled out for his trip to a
long-term recovery facility, the nursing staff broke into
applause with plenty of laughter and a few tears. Everyone
caring for Paulin directly and indirectly felt a sense of
pride, and much joy was shared and felt. Watch Paulin’s
recovery as told by Lisa Bissette, RN, BSN, ICU
“Seeing him
leaving was
so emotional.”
