Maple Grove High School Athletic Training & Sports Medicine Services
Athletic training services are provided to Maple Grove High School through the Institute
for Athletic Medicine and Fairview Health Services.
All student athletes may utilize the services that are offered by the Institute for Athletic
Medicine and Maple Grove High School once the appropriate consent to treat form has
been signed by a parent or guardian. These forms are provided during sports registration.
The athletic trainer is able to provide the following services:
Injury / Illness prevention and wellness protection including taping, wrapping
and movement analysis and exercise prescription
 Clinical evaluation and diagnosis
 Immediate and emergency care
 Treatment and rehabilitation
Organizational and professional health and wellbeing
Every effort is made to provide athletic training services at most scheduled home JV and
Varsity events. It is my goal to contact parents / guardians in the event of an injury to
discuss treatment options and return to play decisions.
Concussion Information: In the event your son or daughter were to sustain a
concussion, the athletic trainer will work carefully and diligently to manage that
injury appropriately and direct you to the appropriate medical care provider(s).
What is an Athletic Trainer?
Athletic training is practiced by athletic
trainers (AT), health care professionals
who collaborate with physicians to
optimize activity and participation of
patients and clients across age and care
continuums. Athletic training
encompasses the prevention, diagnosis,
and intervention of emergency, acute
and chronic medical conditions
involving impairment, functional
limitations, and disabilities. (National
