been inducted into the National Football Founda<br />

tion's College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend,<br />

IN. They are coach GILMOUR DOBIE, inducted in 1951<br />

after a career at NDSU, Washington, Navy, Cornell and<br />

Boston College; two-time All-America defensive back<br />

(1969 & 1970) JOE CICHY, a 1997 inductee; 1986 Harlon<br />

Hill Trophy-winning quarterback JEFF BENTRIM, inducted<br />

in 1998; and coach DARRELL MUDRA, inducted in<br />

2000 after a career at Adams <strong>State</strong>, NDSU, Florida <strong>State</strong>,<br />

Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois and <strong>North</strong>ern Iowa.<br />

<strong>State</strong> athletes were<br />

named to the NCAA Division<br />

II Football Team of the Quarter<br />

Century selected in 1997 by<br />

a nationwide panel as part of the<br />

celebration of the 25th Division II<br />

Football Championship game. Any<br />

player who competed as a Division<br />

II player between 1973 and 1996 was<br />

eligible. <strong>North</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong> <strong>State</strong>, <strong>North</strong> Alabama and Texas<br />

A&M-Kingsville led the team with four selections each.<br />

Named from NDSU were quarterback JEFF BENTRIM,<br />

who started in four straight title games from 1983 to<br />

1986, two-time All-America center MIKE FAVOR (1985-<br />

88), <strong>former</strong> NFL star and two-time All-America defensive<br />

tackle PHIL HANSEN (1987-90), and two-time All-<br />

America linebacker JIM DICK (1982-86).<br />

Hall of Fame was inaugurated<br />

and Johnny Bailey. The Hall of Fame is located<br />

in Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Alabama,<br />

the site of the NCAA national championship game.<br />

In 2004, <strong>former</strong> NFL standout and two-time All-<br />

America defensive end PHIL HANSEN (1987-90)<br />

was inducted into the hall.
