I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of the Roseville Area
Schools Foundation. Enclosed is our Annual Report for your review, which highlights our
grantmaking during the 2008-2009 school year.
This foundation was created to help close a gap that sometimes exists in funding new and
innovative ideas that teachers, staff, and students have to improve the education experience.
With the many grants given during the school year, we help the district gain greater access to
extras like supplies, new technology and tools, specialized resources, guest speakers/educators,
and much more that will make a difference in teaching and learning.
The Annual Report describes each of the grants the Foundation has given to teachers, staff
and schools in the district. Each year we are impressed by the quantity and breadth of grant
requests we receive. This school year we intend to award a total of $43,000 to grantees in the
Roseville Area Schools for creative and innovative projects that will benefit students
throughout our district.
These grants are only made possible by your thoughtful giving. I specially want to thank
Dick Naughton, president and chief executive of James Steele Construction and the Naughton
family in providing the financial support for the Annual Foundation Luncheon held in
September each year.
Additional thanks to the many individual donations the foundation receives. These
donations are an example of how our partnership with parents, teachers, staff, businesses,
you, and other community members have contributed to the success of the foundation.
We are inspired by the growing network of people who support our mission and our work
to help continuously improve education for excellence, innovation and impact in the
Roseville Area Schools.
Sincerely,
Kara J. Sime—Chair, Board of Directors
