Super-speciality of Lord's/Guru's feet<br />

Have you ever imagined why Hindus in particular revere the feet (specially) of<br />

Lord/Guru/Atithi/ elders etc.? Run through our Mahakavyas/Puranas & we will find a<br />

number of illustrations which glorifies 'feet' as a special mention.<br />

For instance, Srimad Ramayanam contains so many events such as Ahalya moksham;<br />

Boatsman washing the feet of Rama before crossing ganges; Bharata carrying the sandals<br />

from Chitrakoot; Rama-Lakshmana' s pada sevanam of Vishwamitra/ Vasishtha;<br />

Hanuman's dasya-bhavam towards Rama's feet; Sita taking shelter of only the feet of<br />

Rama (during her stay in Lanka); Vibhishana sharanagathi etc.<br />

On the other hand one could visualize Srimad Bhagavattam establishing the prowess of<br />

lord's feet while Vamanavataram; Kaliya-mardanam as a manifestation of blessings by<br />

Krishna's feet; Agra-puja of Krishna's feet by Pandavas etc.<br />

Though it is unchallenged that the Lord's/Guru' s feet bestows unlimited grace to the<br />

devotees, but let us try to understand why the 'feet' is so important from other<br />

perspectives.<br />

Guru’s [Lord's] feet<br />

The Guru’s feet are worshipped or revered because all the Guru’s shakti dwells in the<br />

feet. If you did research into this, you would find that the vibrations of the inner self<br />

constantly flow out through the feet. The nerves that come from the Sahasrara reach right<br />

down to the feet. The feet serve as the support for the whole body. This is the reason the<br />
