Portholland Porthcurnick Portscatho

A small sandy beach linking the two

coves of East and West Portholland.

Covered at high tide but some great

rockpooling at low tide. Level access to

the beach at West Portholland.

Near: Portholland On the map: J6 p123

Best conditions for a pleasant day:

Wind Direction: W, NW, N & NE

Avoid: Strong E, SE & S winds

Tide: Best Low Water +/- 4 Hrs

Parking: Limited

A wide sandy beach backed by lush

green fields and sheltered by steep cliffs

either side. Great rockpools at low tide

and a slipway.

Near: Portscatho On the map: G7 p122

Best conditions for a pleasant day:

Wind Direction: N, NW, W & SW

Avoid: Strong E, SE & S winds

Tide: Best Low Water +/- 4 Hrs

Parking: Portscatho car park , 5 mns walk

Public Toilets: In Portscatho

Mostly rocky but with many sandy

patches. Great for rock-pooling at low

tide. Set at the base of an attractive

fishing village with lots of amenities

such as shops, galleries and pubs.

Pendower/Carne Beach

Lunch on the beach

After a morning on the beach, head up

the hill and treat yourself to lunch at the

Nare Hotel’s “Quarterdeck’’ restaurant.

Looking out across Carne Beach

towards Nare Head, the Quarterdeck

has an excellent lunch menu including

a wide range of freshly caught sea food

that can be enjoyed together with

a glass of chilled rosé wine and the

spectacular view. A mile-long sandy

beach sheltered by the dominant Nare

Headland to the East. Great safe beach

for kids with flat soft sand and lots

of shelter.
