The Guayacán Hydroelectric Plant is located in the San José de
Maipo municipality and entered into operation in September 2010.
It has a design flow rate of 45 m3/s and has an average annual
generation of 75 GWh. It is also I-REC (Renewable Energy
Certificate) certified.
Guayacán presents an innovative model of open plant, suitable for
visits by students from schools, colleges and universities,
researchers and anyone who wants to know and learn. Since the
guided tour program began in 2013, almost 13 thousand people
have visited it.
Alejandro Donoso, Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Manager,
said that "the guided tour program is being replicated in other
Energía Llaima operations, such as the Duqueco hydroelectric
complex in the Santa Bárbara district and the Salvador
photovoltaic plant in the Diego de Almagro district, which
reaffirms our commitment to renewable energies and the
creation of shared value with the communities".
In 2009 the plant was recognized by the CNE for its positive
coexistence with the community and its contribution to energy
and environmental education.
