ARE WE NEARLY THERE YET? This could be a heartfelt question from your child who, having been through lockdown is now faced with a backlog of catching up to do - just when they are getting used to being back in school - or it could be a parental cry for help whilst trying to assess how their child has faired over the last complicated year? tutor or organisation and make sure you monitor progress without seeming to be too interfering. The most important thing is to have a happy, relaxed child and here are a couple of people with their own thoughts on the subject! To tutor or not to tutor? It is really hard for parents to decide how and if to add extra tuition to their child’s already busy life but here are a few things to consider. Is my child keeping up with his or her peer group? This might be a good time to have a chat about what they are concerned about and if they do need extra help, and how and when it can be fitted in to suit both you and them. Does my child have the capacity or the desire to take extra tuition over the holidays? Again have a chat, some children welcome the chance to catch up and also interact with other children in the same situation, in a summer camp for example. How do I know the tutor is qualified and appropriate for my child?
