Return to Normality?
There have been a number of
things happening in school this
week that give us an increased
sense of optimism that things are
returning to a more normal way of
working.
We have welcomed visitors from
African Families in the UK (AFiUK)
into school. AFiUK is a charity that
aims to equip African and other ethnic
minority families in the UK to
take their rightful place as fruitful
members of our society. Rachel
and Godwin, from AFiUK, have met
with a number of our children from
our Black and Asian communities to
find out about their experience of
attending EBHS and how they can
be better supported and represented
at school. We are looking
forward to hearing what the students
have said and the positive
action we can take as a school and
wider community to meet our aim of
celebrating diversity and embracing
its benefits.
Our Year 11 students have been sitting
their second round of assessments
that will contribute towards
their final GCSE grades in the summer.
This is very pressured time for
them and they have been working
incredibly hard to do their very best.
Next week they will draw breath before
starting the penultimate week
of assessments after the May bank
holiday weekend. I am sure you will
join me in wishing them the very
Mr Woodcock Headteacher
best of luck in what has been an incredibly
difficult year.
It has been great to see a large
number of students participating in
after school sports clubs now that
we are able to re-start our extra
curricular activities. We also have
our first friendly fixtures next week.
The late buses are running again
and more clubs will start to run during
the remainder of the summer
term. We can also start to run some
local school trips and I know that a
number of staff are already starting
to plan some opportunities for students.
Have a great weekend.
Dan Woodcock

We continue our high expectations
of uniform and remind parents
that every student should be in correct
school uniform and footwear.

purchase new school uniform then
please read our uniform policy
which can be found here.
Full uniform guidance can be found

Covid Testing
Students should continue to test
themselves twice weekly as per the
instructions on our website.
Should your child run out of test kits,
they can be collected from the A
Block Conference Room during
Monday or Wednesday registration
next week. Alternatively you are
able to order test kits directly from
the Government.

The Big Ask
The Government
recently announced it
would launch a national
survey of children and
young people in England. Called the Big Ask it hopes to
find out from children aged 4-17 what life is like for them,
what hopes and aspirations they have and what challenges
they face in reaching their goals.
The survey is being led by the Children's Commissioner
Dame Rachel de Souza. England and Manchester United
footballer Marcus Rashford is supporting the project and
will hold an online assembly for children about it as well.
