SHEFFIELD HOMEOWNERS’ ASSOCIATION
2021 POOL SEASON
COVID-19 Notice:
The pool is subject to the regulations and requirements of Harris County.
Please observe any notices on the pool gate.
The pool will open on Saturday, May 29 th . The full schedule is listed below.
This year only one pool tag will be issued to each property\family in good
standing. To obtain a pool tag, go to www.crest-management.com and
click on Pool Registration Form. Once you register online, a tag will then
be mailed to you. Please ensure your account is in good standing.
Pool Hours
May 29 th -May 31 st :
Saturday-Monday: 12-8 PM
June 1 st -August 22 nd :
Monday: Closed
Tuesday-Sunday: 12 PM - 8 PM
September 4 th -6 th :
Saturday-Monday: 12-8 PM
The pool will be closed on Mondays for maintenance with the exception
of Memorial Day and Labor Day. In those instances, it will be open for the
holiday and closed on Tuesday. After Labor Day, the pool will be closed
for the season. Hours above are subject to change based on the Cypress-
Fairbanks ISD school calendar and changing COVID guidelines. Please
see pool information posted at the pool.
The following qualifications must be met in order to use the pool facilities:
1. Must be an owner, resident or guest accompanied by the owner\
resident to use the facilities.
2. Must be current on annual maintenance fees and sign waiver in-order
to receive one pool tag per property/family.
3. Must show lifeguard 2021 pool tag and sign-in upon entry to the pool
area.
4. Must follow all posted pool or water slide rules and always obey the
lifeguards.
Each tag will be distributed by mail only. Anyone who needs a replacement
or who chooses to pick them up from the offices of Crest Management
will be required to pay $20 (check or money order only) per family.

YARD OF THE MONTH
The Sheffield HOA wants to recognize one neighbor every month for
their dedication and devotion to the upkeep of their front yard.
Each month’s winner will be featured in the Sheffield newsletter and will
get bragging rights with a Yard of the Month sign displayed in their yard
for that month.
Residents can win only once per calendar year and must be in good
standing. Good luck!
HOA DUES
If any Sheffield residents have not paid their yearly assessments, please
email Darlene@crest-management.com for payment plan options. We
are happy to work with you.

GARBAGE SERVICE
The trash pick-up schedule in Sheffield is Tuesday and Friday. Heavy trash
days are every other Tuesday. Please remember to keep your garbage
cans (blue can) at least three feet away from other garbage cans, cars,
poles or anything that may block the truck from gaining access to the can
on pick-up days. Also remember that items piled up by the garbage can
will not be picked up except on heavy trash days. Recycling is picked up
on Friday (gray can).
REMINDER - the garbage contract is through your water company –
Langham Creek UD. If you need more specific information on pick-days
or any other item that is related to garbage pick-up please call Langham
Creek UD at 281-376-8802 or email them at customerservice@wdmtexas.
com or you can call the garbage company, WCA at 281-368-8397. This is
not an HOA contract or a service that is provided by the HOA.
REMINDER FROM THE SHEFFIELD BOARD
PLEASE NOTE: An ARC application must be submitted and approved
prior to you adding shrubs or fencing in the front of your property.
Please see the HOA guidelines regarding fencing requirements to ensure
that fencing additions meet guidelines and that you submit your plans
and application for approval PRIOR to doing any modifications. The
ARC application form can be downloaded from the Crest Management
website at www.crest-management.com, please select Communities at
the top of the page and then select Sheffield. The ARC application will be
located at the bottom of the page. The applications should be submitted
to Crest Management as indicated on the form.
Please, remember Sheffield HOA does not manage your trash service.
This service is through Langham Creek MUD (water bill) 281-579-4500. If
you have any questions regarding the new service, please refer back to
the insert that was included in your water bill or contact WCA at 281-368-
8397 or the MUD.

Please request the ARC application for your home improvement or
modification. Please include all the necessary forms, photo, paint
samples, solar screen samples, drawings, brochure, lot survey and your
signature for us to complete your request in a timely manner. If these
items are not submitted with your application, your request is denied.
A LOT SURVEY IS AN ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING OF YOUR PROPERTY
SHOWING YOUR HOME, EASEMENTS AND BUILDING LINES. A COPY
CAME WITH YOUR CLOSING PAPERS.
You will be notified by letter after the committee has made a decision.
They have 30 days to review and respond to your application. If you have

Management if you wish to build a trashcan enclosure for Architectural
Control forms. The third reason is mildew on the house siding. This often
happens on shady areas of the house. Power washing or spraying with a
cleaning solution for mildew often takes care of the problem.
TRAILERS, RV’S AND BOATS
It is a violation of our deed restrictions to park a trailer, mobile home,
RV, boat, 18-wheeler tractor/trailer or camper in your driveway. You can
park these on your property only if they are completely out of sight (in
the garage, in the back yard behind the house). If you cannot meet these
rules, it must be stored offsite (out of the neighborhood). If you have

GARAGE SALE SIGNS
Placing garage sale signs in the flower and shrub beds within the
neighborhood is not permitted. Such signs found in the flower and shrub
beds will be removed immediately and placed in the trash.

NOTICES

please go to the Crest website at www.crest-management.com and go
to communities, then scroll down to Sheffield and there you will find a
place to sign up with your email address and if you scroll to the bottom,
you can obtain community information, legal documents or applications
as well.
LITTER PICKUP
Just a reminder, if you see trash in the neighborhood, please be a good
neighbor and pick it up and dispose of it properly. Otherwise, then trash
will either end up in someone’s shrubbery or trees or else get washed
down the storm sewers, contributing to mosquito breeding and backing
up of the storm drains in times of heavy rains. Thanks to those of you who
regularly pick up other people’s litter.
PETS
Please remember that you are not allowed by law to let your dogs and
cats run loose in the neighborhood. If caught, you may receive a ticket
in the amount of up to $500 for such a violation (we have had residents
receive such a ticket). If you see loose pets you can contact Harris County
Animal Control.
A number of Sheffield residents either walk their dogs or let their cats
run loose. It is a violation of deed restrictions to let your pet leave their
poop on another resident’s lawn or the common grounds (they belong to
all of Sheffield’s residents). If your pet does have to go to the bathroom,
please be courteous and carry a plastic bag (store bags or the newspaper
delivery bag are great for this), pick up the pile by placing your hand
inside the bag, grab the pile through the bag, tie the bag up and throw it
in the garbage. Leaving your pet waste around encourages the possible
spread of pet disease, such as Parvo, which can be life threatening, or
parasites.

During these two week camp productions, students will participate in a
variety of acting games, exercises and improvisations which will develop

CRIME STOPPERS OF HOUSTON ANNUAL
HOUSTON’S HEROES AWARDS LUNCHEON
Celebrating its 40 years of service to Houston and Texas, Crime Stoppers
of Houston will host its annual Houston’s Heroes Awards Luncheon on
Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 11:30 AM-1 PM at the Royal Sonesta Houston
Hotel to honor outstanding individuals and organizations who have
given exemplary service to make Houston a safer place to live, work, learn
and play.
Due to the public health threat from Covid-19 and the current health and
safety protocols, we will offer both an in-person event with limited seating
as well as virtual access for sponsors and supporters to participate from
home. While Crime Stoppers had to cancel this event last Spring due to
the pandemic, the organization is unable to do so this year and reminds
the community that it relies on this event for funding. Eight distinguished
awards will be awarded at this annual fundraiser that raises funds to keep
our communities safe. For the second year, Crime Stoppers of Houston
will reveal the winner of the Dave Ward Media Excellence Award.
This unique award will honor an entity or individual who has exhibited
media excellence and will be selected by Houston’s Media Icon Dave Ward
himself, along with support from a small committee of his constituents at
Crime Stoppers of Houston. For 40 years, Crime Stoppers of Houston has
focused on solving crime through the famed Tip Line, 713-222-TIPS and
reducing overall criminal activity by preventing it through educational
community programming.
The non-profit, which fundraises year-round will directly benefit from
the luncheon’s proceeds to help further advance the Crime Stoppers’
mission. Attending the 2021 Houston’s Heroes Awards Luncheon is
one easy way to support Crime Stoppers and public safety. The event
is open to participation by all. Individual tickets start at $175 and

DESTINATIONS IN TEXAS
1. GALVESTON: If you’re looking for a classic beach getaway, then a visit
to Galveston is a must. Galveston beach is a popular summer destination
among Texans, especially those in Houston, since Galveston is only about an
hour drive from downtown. Galveston offers more than just the beach too,
however beach fun is why many people flock here. Enjoy great shopping
along the Strand, escape the heat by visiting Moody Gardens or try the
thrilling water rides at Schlitterbahn Waterpark. There are plenty of hotels,

2. GARNER STATE PARK: Spend time camping and tubing down the Frio
River when you visit Garner State Park this summer. Garner State Park,

in the park, the main draw here is truly the Frio River, where the state park

3. CORPUS CHRISTI: If you’re looking for more of a quiet beach scene than

“Corpus” by Texans, has beautiful Gulf Coast beaches that are perfect for
sunbathing, surfing, and windsurfing. If you’ve grown tired of the beach scene,
the town of Corpus Christi offers a number of attractions, such as the Texas

4. SAN ANTONIO: Escape to central Texas this summer by vacationing in
San Antonio. With a unique city vibe full of history and culture, this Texas
city makes for a great summer getaway. Stroll the Riverwalk to enjoy a great
meal, explore the Alamo to learn about Texas history or even enjoy a thrilling
roller coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. San Antonio is a great summer vacation
for foodies, since the area is packed with incredible restaurants from hole-inthe-wall

5. SOUTH PADRE ISLAND: South Padre Island may be known as a spring
break destination but it shouldn’t be dismissed as a great summer travel
spot as well. This Gulf Coast town is home to the most beautiful beaches in

Padre Island should be your destination of choice. With miles of white sand,
plenty of shops to occupy your non-beach days, and even a Schlitterbahn
Waterpark location, South Padre Island transcends from its spring break
reputation into a popular spot during the summer months too.
6. AUSTIN: Texas’ capital city has plenty to see and do during the summer
months. Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, music lovers will
find plenty of live music acts in Austin when they visit during June, July
and August. Big headliners always hit up ATX during their summer tours,
while local acts can be seen for free anywhere from coffee shops, local
music venues and even the airport. Visit the Texas State Capitol, view the bat
colony under the South Congress Bridge at dusk, shop the electric boutiques
along South Congress Avenue and enjoy a wide variety of food truck cuisine

a dip in the Barton Creek Greenbelt or Barton Springs Pool.
7. NEW BRAUNFELS: New Braunfels is a Hill Country destination that has

Fresh Fruit Cobbler
You could make this on National Eat What You Want Day May 11th!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup sliced fresh peaches
3/4 cup peeled, cored and sliced apple
3/4 cup peeled, cored and sliced pear
1/2 cup blueberries
1/2 cup pitted and sliced cherries
1/2 cup pitted and sliced plums
1 egg
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter, melted
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2 quart baking
dish. Arrange the peaches, apple, pear, blueberries, cherries and plums in
the prepared baking dish. In a medium bowl, beat egg, sugar and milk.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt; stir into
the egg mixture. Stir in vanilla and melted butter. Cover the fruit with the
batter mixture.
Bake 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Cobbler should be bubbly and
lightly browned. Serve warm.

INGREDIENTS:
8 ounces cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 avocado, peeled, pitted and diced
1/2 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup orange-flavored carbonated beverage
3/4 cup ketchup
1 (4 ounce) packet saltine crackers
DIRECTIONS:
Chop the shrimp into smaller pieces and transfer to a bowl. Stir
in the avocado and cilantro. In a separate bowl, stir together
the orange soda and ketchup until the foaming stops. Pour
over the shrimp mixture and toss to coat. It should be soupy.
Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to blend the flavors before
serving with saltine crackers.

Flowers: Time to plant summer blooming perennials and
annuals including plumbago, zinnias, angelonia, purslane,
lobularia, sunflowers, yellow bells, pride of Barbados,
duranta and bat-faced cuphea.
Vegetables: May is a great time to plant, from seed or nursery
plants, okra, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, winter squash,
pumpkins, basil, peppers, lima beans, eggplant, garlic
chives and Malabar greens. If you don’t want to dedicate an
area of your yard, consider planting here and there in your
flowerbeds. Edible landscaping is a popular new trend!
Lawns: Water 1/2 to 1” of irrigation per week. A rain gauge
or straight sided container (such as a tuna fish can) will help
you know how long to run your irrigation system to apply
1/2”.
Weeding: Hand pull or hoe weeds while they are still young
or better yet, maintain a 3” layer of mulch in all vegetable
and flowerbeds to deter weeds from getting a start.
Pruning: Remove spent blooms on spring and summer
annuals to promote new blooms.
Fertilizing: Fertilize flowerbeds and vegetable gardens w/
slow release organic fertilizer.
Water: Deep soakings between rain events is better than
frequent light sprinkling.
Birds: Spring migration continues until mid-May. Clean
bird feeders! Replace water in bird baths to avoid creating
mosquito breeding spots.
