for Richmond to the meeting.
Brydie highlighted the importance of working with partner organisations which enable NYCH to
deliver on a wide range of projects. She particularly mentioned the support given by local
governments of Yarra and Melbourne who are key partners in a range of important areas. Brydie
spoke briefly about some of these joint projects which include:
The Active Service Model in Carlton
The Billabong BBQ

Harmony Day
Youth Space
Partnerships with the Acute sector including with The Alfred, St Vincent’s and the Royal
Partnerships with the Neighbourhood Houses on projects such as the Men’s Shed, Catering
projects and community building projects.
Partnerships with other Community Health Services, particularly those in our local
catchments.
Brydie then pointed to many successes enjoyed over the year, e.g. the launch of the Bike Fleet and
the Collingwood Men’s shed and the great work done to improve responses to those with chronic
illnesses as well as the various the art programs listed in the report.
Brydie conveyed the Board’s disappointment there was no further progress on the relocation of the
Carlton Centre and assured the meeting work will continue on this important project.
Brydie foreshadowed that there would be a small presentation to thank the retiring Directors, but
noted that David Lau, one of the Retiring Directors was not able to be present and he too had made
an important contribution to NYCH’s governance, particularly in the area of financial oversight.
In summing up her report, Brydie made a special mention of the volunteers who participate in the
“life of NYCH”. Volunteers make an enormous contribution and help us to improve the range and
quality of services provided. Brydie acknowledged and thanked all the members, volunteers, service
largely due to the timing of various payments.
At the end of the financial year there were 125 staff – 80 full time equivalents. Expenditure on
salaries and associated costs is around 75% of the total budget with the remainder being largely
allocated to program and occupancy expenses. Funding is derived from a variety of sources
including a number of Victorian Government Departments, the Commonwealth, and Local
Government and Philanthropic donations.
Phil particularly acknowledged donations from
The Pratt Foundation
