Participants in this study were recruited through the
professional networks of Dr Shaher Abdullateef and Dr
Esraa Almashhour, both Syrian agricultural scientists,
and Dr Salim Alnabolsi, a Jordanian economist.
While interviews
with Syrian
workers were
conducted in
Arabic by our
Syrian and
Jordanian
colleagues, data
were analysed
jointly by our
entire team.
