and in the case of the Fifth and Sixth Forms, managing the two<br />

formal dances given during the school year.<br />

The Prefects, who are chosen from the Sixth Form by the Headmaster,<br />

serve as chairmen of the various committees, as student<br />

supervisors in dormitories and corridors, and as officers of the<br />

<strong>School</strong> Meeting, of which the Senior Prefect is chairman.<br />

Thus every boy is a part of the <strong>School</strong> and as a part, has a major<br />

responsibility to it.<br />

The matter of running a school, however, cannot be left entirely<br />

to students. All acts of the <strong>School</strong> Meeting and its committees<br />

are subject to Faculty approval. It is to the credit of the student<br />

body and a matter of great satisfaction to the Faculy that<br />

the Faculty has seldom had to withhold approval.<br />

JOB SY<strong>ST</strong>EM<br />

IT is the aim of the <strong>School</strong> to instill a sense of pride in a task well<br />

done as well as to keep its life simple and economical. To this end<br />

boys assume much of the care of the grounds and buildings, care<br />

of their own rooms, and the service in the dining room.<br />

The work is divided equally and jobs are changed every third<br />

week of term. The time thus consumed averages about thirty<br />

minutes daily. Supervision and inspection of jobs are carried on<br />

by the Sixth Form under the general direction of a faculty member.<br />

ATHLETICS AND RECREATION<br />

ALL boys are expected to take part in the organized sports in season<br />

and to be outdoors every afternoon except when the regular squads<br />

practice in the Gymnasium. The coaching is done entirely by the<br />

masters ; careful attention is given to the lower teams and to the<br />

less proficient players as well as to the varsity teams.<br />

In the fall there are two major sports, football and soccer. However,<br />

all boys except fifth and sixth formers are expected to play<br />

football unless excused by the <strong>School</strong> authorities, in which case<br />
