He waspresented with the above check during the school's2021 senior awards day ceremony in May.Submitted PhotoCar Chase and Stand-offLaw Enforcement officialsare always prepared for eventsand busy days, but DeKalbCounty Authorities had aparticular busy day on May 24,2021 that included a car chaseand a brief stand-off.While attempting to conducta traffic stop on US Hwy 11,authorities spotted a vehiclewith the subject throwingitems out of the window as hewas heading into Fort Payne.DeKalb County Deputies andInvestigators followed as thesubject entered onto I-59 south.The vehicle continued, passingthe Collinsville exit for severalmore miles, before striking aguardrail after the subject lostcontrol of the vehicle.According to a press releasefrom DeKalb County SheriffNick Welden, Carter DaleFranklin Jr., age 36 of Anniston,was charged with Attempting toElude, Reckless Endangerment,Resisting Arrest and DUI(Controlled Substance).Also on May 24, DeKalbCounty deputies, as well as policeofficers from Sylvania, Henagar,Fyffe, and Rainsville respondedto a residence on IndustrialDrive in Sylvania in response toa subject with what authoritiescalled an altered mental status.Sheriff Welden noted that amale subject called 911 statinghe was going to harm himself,the public and Law Enforcement.Authorities set up a perimeterat the location and the DeKalbCounty Special Response Teamwas called to the scene.Following a brief stand-off,the subject was coaxed out ofthe residence and taken to a localhospital on a pickup order issuedby Probate Judge Ronnie Osborn."Everyone involved dida phenomenal job keeping thepublic safe in both of thesesituations,” said Welden.Brady PeekPicked For 2021Ledger LeadersAcademy’s Brady Peek is one ofthe 2021 Ledger Leader awardBrady has a 3.9 GPA andis a multi-sport student athletebasketball, cross country andHis skills on the basketballcourt have led to several honors.Brady received the Best TeamDefense award in 2019-2020, hewas an ACAA All-TournamentIn Cross Country and Trackhe was chosen for the Best TeamSpirit award in 2019 and heearned 1st Place in the ACAAis a member of the Beta Club(chosen as Premier Performer2019); Potter's House Paladinin the Show Choir, Band, andOutside of school, Brady isan active member of New HomeBaptist Church and the youthCornerstone Christianrecipients.at Cornerstone Christian inRainsville.
