Pierce | The Sports LedgerThe 2021 Hydrofest is scheduled to be held on June 26-27Alabama is known forfast cars and a NASCARsuperspeedway, but thesouthern state is alsodeveloping a name for fastboats on a liquid track. LakeGuntersville invites peopleof all ages to an extremesummer event where thefastest boats today race onan oval course at speeds of200 mph.Hosted by MarshallCounty Tourism and Sports,the annual GuntersvilleLake HydroFest is set forJune 26-27, 2021, offeringtwo days of competitiveracing as drivers volley totake home the SouthernCup title.H1 Unlimitedhydroplanes are the fastest,reaching speeds of upto 200 mph, and mostpowerful, closed-courseracing boats in the world.Racing takes place alongscenic Sunset Drive inGuntersville.Eight H1 Unlimitedhydroplane race boats, 20Formula 1 powerboats and20 jet skis are expectedto take part in the actionpackedevent that offersthree classes of racing:H1 Unlimited, Formula1 Powerboat and Hydro-Cross Jet Ski.
