Upma herself is a publishedmodel and knows the struggle in the industry.She wanted a space for women where theycan showcase their talent. Continuing themission to embrace yourself by breakingstereotypes and advocating positive bodyimage, RF is organizing a dynamic gatheringof designers, creators, and patrons of thefashion industry at our next show on 03 July2021 at Royal International ConventionCentre. The team is determined to deliver anexceptional Fashion Show experience.The Fashionistas Team consists of expertsfrom the fashion industry and otherprofessional backgrounds who volunteer theirtime to produce the show for professional andemerging models and designers. The teamhas delivered two Sold Out shows in Sofitel,2019, and Stanford Plaza, 2020. With everyevent produced, RF pledges that a portion ofthe funds raised will go to a charity. Thisyear Ravishing Fashionistas Fashion Show2021 will donate a portion of profits to theNational Breast Cancer Foundation andDignifying Women.We love to challenge ourselves and aspire to deliver our guests anunforgettable experience. Local politicians, celebrities, and influencersgather under one roof to witness the best of Brisbane's models, fashiondesigners, jewellery creatives, stylists, hair and makeup artists,photographers, social media influencers, and guests.The Fashionistas Team has kicked off preparations for this year’s showby conducting a casting call on Sunday, 14 March 2021, at HamiltonHall. 100 professional and emerging models attended to try their luckto be short-listed for this year’s show.The Judges Panel consisted of Upma Kite (Concept Creator & Directorof Ravishing Fashionistas); Francesca Webster (Founder, Director &CEO of Brazilian Beauty and ASI Training Centre); Lizzie Wagner(Founder of Lizzie Wagner Group Executive Coach, BusinessConsultant, Keynote Speaker & Styling and PR professional); ThuyNguyen (Director & CEO of Fashion360); Vera Haddock (Founder ofVERAS & Social Media Influencer) and Unga Folau-Tupou (FashionShow Model Coordinator & Choreographer of Ravishing Fashionistas).As the day began, models from various age groups, nationalities anddress sizes lined up for their turn to shine in front of the judges. Themodels were requested to walk solo and then in a group. This was anopportunity to mark their entry into the fashion industry. Each modelwas judged on their confidence, personality, walk and posture. Out of100 models, 30 models will move to the next stage of rehearsals andpreparation for the major event.In a world where misogyny and sexism stillexist, where women are put to shame forvarious reasons, body types are prevalentcharacteristics used to criticise a woman.“Too thin”, “too fat”, “too pale”, “too tan”,“too mature”, “too casual”, “too wrinkly” arethe words that we hear quite often.Ravishing Fashionistas Team is encouragingeveryone to fight this prejudice and advocatepositive body image for all women. Theirmessage to the community is to confidentlyembrace their beauty and body irrespective oftheir age, body type, background, skin colouror culture. Every woman has a story and aunique personality.
The selected models will be mentored by fashion industry experts, developing skills in choreography, wellbeing,communication while being coached to collaborate in a team environment. The final event is scheduled onSaturday, 3 July 2021, at Royal International Convention Centre starting at 6 pm; It is expected to surprise anddelight the audience with the theme of gold and glitter.
