DEAN'S WELCOME<br />
At the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Liberal</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> and <strong>Sciences</strong>, we serve the<br />
needs <strong>of</strong> all students, traditional and non-traditional. We are<br />

Our faculty excels in teaching, research and service. The<br />
faculty is recognized for their innovative pedagogy and<br />
expertise. Our curriculum builds foundational knowledge<br />
required for all academic degree programs at the university,<br />
emphasizing communication skills, analytical reasoning,<br />
leadership and independent thought. The <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Liberal</strong><br />
<strong>Arts</strong> and <strong>Sciences</strong> is home to innovative programs that<br />
prepare our students to compete effectively in a rapidly<br />
changing job market or to pursue post-graduate education.<br />
The liberal arts and sciences provide a broad curriculum that<br />
engages students in hands-on learning, critical thinking and<br />
collaborative work. Through the opportunities provided by<br />
our curriculum, students acquire knowledge and develop<br />
important skills, so that in turn, they can obtain fulfilling<br />
careers, improve their community and become<br />

Applied <strong>Arts</strong> & <strong>Sciences</strong> (Transfer students only)<br />
Life doesn’t always go just as planned. Not all students take<br />
a traditional path to college. Some people receive technical<br />
certification at a community college before choosing to pursue a<br />
bachelor’s degree. Many realize they need to go back to school to<br />
move ahead in their career. Others served in the military before<br />
choosing to return to the classroom. For all those reasons, <strong>UNT</strong><br />
<strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers the Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Applied <strong>Arts</strong> and <strong>Sciences</strong> degree that<br />
will successfully guide you into a rewarding career. You can choose<br />
from concentrations in Emergency Services Administration and<br />
Urban Agriculture & Renewable Resources.<br />
Biology (B.S. & B.A.)<br />
Biology is one <strong>of</strong> the most important subjects in the world today<br />
because biology is the study <strong>of</strong> life, from single-cell organisms to<br />
complex plants and animals. There are many intriguing questions<br />
to discover in this field. A biology degree at <strong>UNT</strong> <strong>Dallas</strong> will<br />
equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience to excel<br />
in a multitude <strong>of</strong> exciting careers, including education, health,<br />
environmental science, forensic biology, scientific journalism,<br />
research and much more.<br />

Communication & Technology<br />
In our increasingly digital world, it is imperative to be able to<br />
communicate effectively and master the digital tools <strong>of</strong> today<br />
— and tomorrow. Businesses and organizations are seeking<br />
graduates equipped with the communication and technological<br />
skills to excel in fields such as media, digital production, strategic<br />
communication, and sports and entertainment broadcasting and<br />
promotion. A Communication & Technology degree at <strong>UNT</strong> <strong>Dallas</strong><br />
will distinguish you from your peers and position you for success.<br />
Criminal Justice<br />
<strong>UNT</strong> <strong>Dallas</strong> Criminal Justice graduates make a difference in their<br />
communities. They help those in need, protect the greater good<br />
and serve the people. A criminal justice degree allows you to work<br />
with victims <strong>of</strong> crime, assist in solving crime or help in preventing<br />
crime in your community. Whether you plan for a career in law<br />

Information Technology<br />
Do your friends and family always call you with their computer<br />
questions? Are you determined to always solve the issue? You<br />

Information Technology. IT remains one <strong>of</strong> the fastest-growing<br />
industries in America. Our bachelor’s degree will open doors<br />
to thousands <strong>of</strong> job opportunities in <strong>Dallas</strong>-Fort Worth and<br />
throughout the world, in industries such as s<strong>of</strong>tware development,<br />
database administration, network administration, health care<br />

Mathematics<br />

Political Science<br />
What better time than now in American history to become an<br />
expert in political science and pursue a career in politics, law,<br />
public policy or government? <strong>UNT</strong> <strong>Dallas</strong>’ political science majors<br />
are curious about the nation and the world, and are passionate<br />
about making a difference in their communities. Our political<br />
science graduates are prepared to do just that. You will gain<br />
valuable analytical, communication and research skills that will<br />
prepare you to make an impact in politics or government, or in a<br />
wide range <strong>of</strong> diverse industries.<br />
Psychology<br />
<strong>UNT</strong> <strong>Dallas</strong> students who pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology<br />
are naturally fascinated by understanding people’s motivations<br />
and behaviors. They have a desire to help people overcome<br />
their problems, and/or conduct illuminating experiments into<br />
why people think and behave in certain ways. Our psychology<br />
majors receive a broad base <strong>of</strong> knowledge that prepares them<br />
for careers in various fields including counseling, public relations,<br />
school psychology, research and teaching, as well graduate work<br />

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS<br />
Public Health (B.S. & B.A.)<br />
Improving public health is central to <strong>UNT</strong> <strong>Dallas</strong>’ core mission. We<br />
pioneered one <strong>of</strong> the first undergraduate public health degree<br />
programs in North Texas, allowing students to focus in one <strong>of</strong> four<br />
areas: health science; behavioral and community health; diversity,<br />
ethics and global health; and health promotion and programs. You<br />
will be prepared to take on careers where you can influence the<br />
health and well-being <strong>of</strong> your community in areas such as health<br />
education, research, health administration and<br />
policy development.<br />
Sociology<br />
Those who study sociology are intrigued by how and why people<br />
interact with others, and have a deep interest in learning about<br />
and finding solutions to sociological issues that deal with gender,<br />
race, family, prejudice and discrimination, poverty, education,<br />
religious faith and many more. A sociology degree from <strong>UNT</strong><br />

in fields such as social work, human services administration,<br />
