Getting Ready For
The High Holy Days

Elul, the month of the Hebrew calendar
that immediately precedes Rosh Hashanah,
presents us with an opportunity to reflect
on the year that has passed in order to have
the best possible experience in the year to
come.
We do this through a spiritual technology
our Sages call Heshbon Hanefesh –
“accounting of the soul.”
All it requires is a little courage to take an honest inventory of what
went well for you over the last year, as well as ways in which you
might try to do better in the future. Every day in the month of Elul,
Rabbi Carrier will share a new question designed to help you in this
exploration, and over the course of four weeks we will focus on four
areas of responsibility:
- Your responsibility toward yourself
- Your responsibility toward your family and friends
- Your responsibility toward your community
- Your responsibility toward the broader world
