The most famous of four satellite villages, the resort
Courchevel 1850 resides high in the French Alps.
Part of the Three Valleys, Courchevel is the most
eastern point of the largest connected ski area in the
world.
Regularly celebrated in the world press as the 'best
ski resort in Europe', Courchevel 1850 is renowned
for its virtually queue-free lift system, vast expanses
of powdery white snow slopes and some of the most
challenging black runs do date. A wealth of winter
activities are available in the area including Alpine,
Nordic and cross country skiing, snowboarding,
curling, snowshoe walking, tobogganing, ice karting,
ice skating, ice climbing, husky sledding, heli-skiing
and glacier walking. The high altitude of the resort all
but guarantees perfect ski conditions during the winter
season.
There is no question Courchevel 1850 offers excellent
ski opportunities. However it is perhaps most famous
for its glamourous après-ski. Annually attracting
a select clientele of VIPs and royal families from
around the globe, this exclusive resort boasts the most
Michelin starred restaurants of any ski area. A total
of 7 restaurants share 11 Michelin stars, including 4
restaurants which have been awarded 2 Michelin stars.
The eminence of Courchevel is not only limited to
fine dining, two hotels in the village have achieved the
esteemed 6 star palace rating, a rating which only eight
hotels in the whole of France possess.
Hidden in the tree-line of the 'Jardin Alpine' sits our
prestige choice, Chalet Ormello. Acquired and opened
in 2009, this exceptional annexe of the Les Arielles
resort was entrusted to the architect Christophe
Tollemer for renovation. Authentic and charming, with
traditional Savoyard unpolished stone and wooden
interiors, the chalet is peaceful to perfection.
With 5 levels spread over 3 floors the chalet provides
a generous 1000 sqm (10,764 sq. ft.) of space. Seven
suites can accommodate 15 guests while a dedicated
staff of 12 are on hand to ensure your stay runs as
desired. The stairs, doors, walls, even the lift are
fashioned in natural wood giving the whole a cozy
atmosphere of “farmhouse chic”.
