COPPER LAKES TENNIS COURTS
Many residents are already enjoying the refurbished tennis courts. This
summer, we replaced the chain link fence and resurfaced the courts. New
nets were purchased and the light posts were painted. We also plan to
install new benches. If you have not yet seen or enjoyed them, check
them out.
Remember, the courts are for Copper Lakes residents and guests. They
must be relinquished for scheduled league matches of Copper Lakes
teams.
To preserve them for everyone, it is important that the courts be used
for tennis only. They are not for soccer, skateboards, skates, etc. Access is
with the same card you use for the pools.
Residents can now place pictures and information for lost and found
animals under the neighborhood pictures tab of the Copper Lakes
website, www.copperlakes.com. If you have lost or found a pet, please
use this great tool to let the neighborhood know and hopefully reunite
the pet with their family.
ATTENTION! PET POOPS / YOU SCOOP
Please be respectful of community grounds and neighbors’ yards. If your
pet poops during your walk, be prepared to scoop and trash. Come with
a scooper and a recycled grocery bag or anything else. It may not be the
most fabulous way to walk your pet, but it does show your respect for
every homeowner and our beautiful community.
PRE & PRIVATE SCHOOLS
ST. CUTHBERT SCHOOL IS OPEN
We are grateful to the parents and staff that worked so hard during this
difficult year to give the students a wonderful learning experience. St.
Cuthbert School’s 2021-2022 registration has begun and will continue
each day during school hours until all our spots are full.
Our Bridge/Kindergarten program is designed for children who are
not quite ready for kindergarten. The development of the essential
building blocks allows children to succeed at learning with greater ease
and confidence, by helping them bridge the academic and social gaps
necessary to become positive and productive classroom leaders.
Our school hours are Monday-Thursday 9 AM to 2 PM and Friday 9 AM to
12 noon. We provide a low child/teacher ratio for all classes. Our program
provides a loving, Christian environment offering the children weekly
chapel, as well as music & movement, library and computer classes. Our
curriculum includes: Learning without Tears, Handwriting without Tears,
Reading A-Z, math, science and social studies. The program is open to all
children, regardless of race, nationality or faith.
St. Cuthbert School is accredited by the National Association for the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC). For questions, contact Lynda or
Dana at 281-463-1912 or email school@stcuthbert.org.
BACK TO SCHOOL MONTH
Back to School Month in August gears up parents, teachers, schools
and students gear for education. With shorter days, it’s time to dust off
the backpacks, fill them up and plan for a new school year. Preparing
children for the new year includes everything from supplies, clothes,
checkups, planning schedules and making new friends. Teachers
develop their lesson plans and ready their classrooms for the new,
smiling faces.
Despite all the excitement, the expense of going back to school can put a
damper on going back to school. Fill-the-bus events, back-pack programs
and teacher supply initiatives help to fill the gaps. Organizations around
the country pull together to make the first day of school fun every year.
Whether you’re ready or not, friends, activities and books are just around
the corner. Get ready to learn!
National Back to School Month has been observed since the 1960s. The
school year has traditionally begun in the fall and ended in late spring
allowing the children of farmers in our agricultural society to help with
planting and harvesting. Though today most families have moved to a
more urban and suburban lifestyle, most schools in the United States still
function on this system. However, a trend toward a year-round school
year is gaining steam.
