is a powerful reminder of where we have been in the world of community
theatre, and a fire starter for where we want to go. It is a gift
to be surrounded by individuals with varying years of experience and
tenure; to be reminded that there is rarely a problem that someone
else hasn’t faced; and to participate in challenging conversations that
are essential to the vitality of theatre making in each of our communities.”
“What I enjoyed most about this conference was the comradery
of the other managing directors,” says Steve Carver of Kalamazoo
Civic Theatre. “Producing sustainable community theatre is a challenge,
but we need to remember we’re not alone. The relationships
I’ve enjoyed through these conferences have been invaluable. Everyone
is so positive and supportive. I feel I can call any of the managing
directors and ask for advice on or request help with costumes or
props. It’s a very special conference in relationship building.”
