Until recently, membership in The American Legion
was limited to honorably discharged veterans who
served in the US Armed Forces during “wartime.”
Since July 30 last year, the door has been open to
all who (a) currently serve and (b) were honorably
discharged following at least one day of active
service, since December 7, 1941.
