1. Go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s LIVESTRONG Web site (http://www.livestrong.com). Comment<br />

on any evidence you see that Asymmetric Communications have been used to reach potential donors <strong>and</strong><br />

supporters. Be specific <strong>in</strong> your comments.<br />

2. Us<strong>in</strong>g a search eng<strong>in</strong>e of your own choos<strong>in</strong>g, exam<strong>in</strong>e sample requests for proposal (RFPs). Dur<strong>in</strong>g your<br />

search you will observe several RFP samples <strong>and</strong> possible downloads. Select a free download. Identify <strong>and</strong><br />

describe the parts of the sample RFP you downloaded. Compare your sample download to Figure 1.8 "The<br />

msnbc.com RFP". Comment on similarities <strong>and</strong> differences.<br />

3. After read<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>formation provided <strong>in</strong> the chapter, take one of the follow<strong>in</strong>g positions: (a) <strong>in</strong>tegrated<br />

market<strong>in</strong>g communications should be the objective of all advertis<strong>in</strong>g agencies or (b) time-tested,<br />

traditional media-specific campaigns have proven to be the best way to approach communication<br />

problems <strong>and</strong> opportunities. Write a short paper that summarizes your chosen position. Participate <strong>in</strong> a<br />

class discussion that evaluates the two positions.<br />
