We’ve Got You Covered!
by Angel Rodriguez, HR Generalist
There are a great deal of things that we do
not know. For example, did you know that
trees can communicate? Trees talk. Their
roots are connected through an underground
network of fungi, nicknamed the “Wood Wide
Web,” that allows them to share resources
with each other. This, in turn, allows them
to “talk” by transmitting nutrients to one
another through fungi.
We might not know a lot of random facts,
but we as Associates should know all the
wonderful benefits offered by FirstService
Residential.
To help you learn more about the
FirstService Residential benefits offered,
our Be Well theme for October is “We’ve Got
You Covered”. In addition to the information
you will be receiving during our Annual
Benefits Enrollment, Be Well will introduce
you to some of the ancillary benefits offered
by FirstService Residential you may not be
aware of, including:
Legal Plans – which gives you access to
the expert guidance and tools you need
to handle the broad range of personal
legal needs you might face throughout
your life, just to name a few.
We have many benefits that are offered by
our organization that are not as well known
to all our Associates – especially those new
team members!
If you want to learn more and be “in the
know”, then make sure to come and join
Jan Magree, Director of Training, and Angel
Rodriguez, HR Generalist, on Wednesday,
October 13th for the Be Well “We’ve Got
You Covered” Learn Day. Invites will be
forthcoming. Quick tip: there will be prizes!
See you there!
Real Appeal – A transformational
accountability coaching weight loss
program. You would need to qualify for
this program, if you do, this benefit will
provide recipes, workouts, and a coach
to walk you through a health journey.
We are in the middle of National Hispanic
Heritage month, a celebration showcasing
the spirit of independence and the traditions
rooted in the diverse Hispanic/Latin American
cultures and people who continue to pave our
communities’ future.
Cultural and ethnic diversity brings more
opportunities for workplace collaboration and
service excellence through the depth and breadth
of unique experiences, perspectives, leadership
and practice.
We share a common goal to make a difference
every day through support of causes and
initiatives endorsing the positive impacts of
cultural diversity in the communities where we
live and work.
Did You Know?
Sept. 15 was chosen as the start date for
Hispanic Heritage Month because five countries
-- Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras
and Nicaragua -- share Sept. 15, 1821, as their
Independence Day.
This month, we highlight three common questions we receive to help even more associates.
1. My account is inactive. Help!
Many associates report that that their IDs are deactivated after receiving the message above.
Deactivation occurs if the Associate hasn’t completed the “Sign-In” process for two weeks.
Closing the browser doesn’t sign the accounts out. Everyone should sign out of Connect regularly
(daily or weekly at the longest). You can sign out by clicking your profile bubble at the top right
of the Connect Page and then clicking sign-out. It is important to sign out when access to
properties changes.
2. How do I know if the communication went out?
Communication History will provide a lot of great information. From the Property Dashboard,
hover over Tools and click Communication History. (PLEASE NOTE: Communication History
(Legacy) is where the communications sent before the 6/28 upgrade are found.) Exporting the
Communication Recipient Data Report will provide you a list of all the residents to whom the
communication was sent and whether they opened it.
3. How do I remove categories for work orders that don’t apply to my property?
Navigate to the Property Dashboard, click “Edit” next to the entity number for the property. Then click on
Work Orders Category Management as illustrated below:
More than ever, it's
important for all of us
to do what we can to
protect our health and
the health of those
around us.
Flu season is beginning, and flu shots are already in stock at doctor's offices, pharmacies and
care centers. Our insurance carrier, Aetna, offers covers the cost of flu immunizations. A flu
vaccine will lessen the chance that you catch the illness and helps strengthen your immune
system. The sooner you get yours, the sooner your protection begins!
Have questions about the vaccine or the flu virus? Here's guidance from the CDC:
We are excited to begin management of
Chatham Park Village Cooperative, a 535-
unit cooperative that sits on 26 acres in the
Chatham Park neighborhood of Chicago.
This South Shore community was built in
1940 and offers residents an urban aesthetic
with classic, red brick low-rise apartment
buildings. It is one of the largest communities
managed by FirstService Residential.
All reports were accurate and timely. Our project
management team was very good. This is the first
project that I’ve been involved with. Overall, I would
use FSPM team again on a project of this size.
