Waveform Deflections
• An ECG waveform (deflection) is movement
away from the baseline either in a positive
(upward) or negative (downward) direction
• When depolarization wave moves toward
positive electrode, waveform on ECG will be
positive (upright)
• When depolarization wave moves toward
negative electrode, ECG waveform will be
negative (inverted)
