bio

my name is katie osinski. i am currently a graduating student of chatham

university studying interior architecture. i am a transfer student, meaning i had

a realization of what i actually wanted to do half way through college! lol. i

have an intense passion for art, design, and all things beautiful. ignoring that

part of me would be doing a huge disservice to myself and possibly others.

who knows. so, i guess i’ll take the extra year of college.

when i was a kid i thought i wanted to own a restaurant, but realized i

would want to make a bunch, and move on from each one after the next. i’m

also not much of a cook. then i thought that i wanted to be a nurse because

the childrens hospital of pittsburgh was so full of color that i wanted to be

there all the time. through the years, i began to realize that my passion was

centered around creating and curating environments that could inspire other

small katies. i hope one day i can do that.

hospitality

the blockhouse hotel was inspired by the spirit of

pittsburgh. the last remaining building of fort pitt, the

fort pitt blockhouse, is the oldest existing structure in

western pennsylvania. we take inspiration from this

representation of pittsburgh’s rich history, as well as it’s

main building material; concrete.

pittsburgh has an unforgettable

essence of eclecticism; represented

through the many diverse neighborhoods

which all house a unique feel.

this is emulated through our use of

varied material finishes.

555 is a virtual reality nightclub centered around the concept of escapism.

spanning 5 stories and located at 555 gold way, each indivicual floor is

meant to be it’s own escape. unifying design elements of the past, present,

or paying attention to the activity at hand; in this case, the

augmented virtual reality experience, as well as the other

activities offered by each individual floor. occupants will be
