SUPPLEMENTAL NARRATIVE:
Name: Mallahan,Ryan
Date: 16:45:13 10/02/19
Supplement Dictated by A. G. Ruiz #7265 on 10/02/19 at 1436 hrs.
Total Dictation Time = 4:04 mins.
On 10/02/19, after receiving surveillance footage and reviewing it, I was able
to locate an address for the registered owner reference the vehicle used in the
shoplifting. At approximately 1145 hours, I responded to the address of
222 West Delano Street
to speak with Kay Farrar.
Upon my arrival, an elderly female answered the door and asked if she could help
me. Just behind her a woman followed who was later identified as the suspect,
Megan Kuhne. I recognized her from the photo. I began to address her and I asked
her if I could speak with her, as she appeared to be the person I was here to
speak with. She said absolutely as she exited the front door and stepped outside
under a carport.
I proceeded to inform her that I was assigned a case and asked her if she
recognized someone in a surveillance photo that I had. I proceeded to show her a
print photo that I had taken from the surveillance that depicted herself. She
proceeded to state that was her. I then proceeded to read her Miranda Rights
verbatim using my Quick Reference Guide and then asked her if she would answer
my questions. She said she would.
I proceeded to ask her why if she could tell me what she did. She proceeded to
tell me that she was out of work at that time and needed groceries. She said she
went to the store not initially intending to steal but after filling her cart
with items, she realized she could not pay for them and decided just to leave.
She said she walked out of the store without paying and went to her vehicle.
Ultimately, she was not able to get away with the items due to an employee
running after her.
I informed her that the amount of items she had stolen was approximately
$305.55. I informed her that due to her taking these items out of the store
without paying for them with the intention to steal, she would be cited for
Shoplifting. She stated she understood that and apologized for what she did. At
this point, I had her stand with Detective G. Bolasky #7312 who was also on
scene while I filled out a citation, Citation #764644. Upon completing the
citation for Megan Kuhne citing her for ARS 13-1805A1, Shoplifting, I witnessed
