WELCOME TO FROME AND OF
COURSE OUR BELOVED CHEESE
AND GRAIN. TELL US MORE ABOUT
TONIGHT’S 80’S EXTRAVAGANZA DJ
SET?
Tonight, is something I’ve been doing
for the last few years. We’ve been doing
in the region of about 135 DJ sets up
and down the country. Of course, we
had to stop due to the pandemic. This
is probably the most euphoric thing I’ve
ever done.
You’ll see tonight people who want to
be transported back to being 17 years
old again and they absolutely play the
part. I’ve never seen people sing to every
single song I play. You know it’s very
different to listening to 80’s music on
the radio and listening to it through giant
speakers.
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE BACK ON
THE ROAD AND PLAYING TO PACKED
AUDIENCES ONCE AGAIN?
You know I remember during the
pandemic the one thing I missed was
doing this. Getting that adrenaline and
that buzz. You know what I like about it
most? I’m not up there separate from the
audience. The audience and me are just
one and we are all having a great time.
YOU’VE VISITED FROME ON SEVERAL
OCCASIONS, RIGHT?
Yeah. It’s a lovely little town and you
know I absolutely love coming back.
Frome is quite the place to be.
I’VE GOT TO ASK YOU ABOUT THE
CONCERT OF THAT DECADE AND
36 YEARS AGO. OF COURSE, I’M
TALKING ABOUT LIVE AID! WHAT
WAS THAT DAY LIKE FOR YOU AND
YOUR BAND SPANDAU BALLET?
It was an amazing thing. You know like
when something becomes historical in
retrospect when you look back at it. We
knew Live Aid was going to be historic on
the day. There was like two billion people
watching it that day around the world, so
you knew how big is was going to be. It
was a different day to anything we’d ever
done.
The special moment about Live Aid for
me, wasn’t about doing our thing that
