Disability Awareness Week 2021

Mayor’s Foreword
DCSDC is excited to host the sixth annual Disability Awareness Week, this
year our programme will be delivered in partnership with our colleagues at
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. We would like to thank the PHA
for their continued support and funding of the Access and Inclusion Project.
This year’s Disability Awareness week intends to widen and deepen
engagement from marginalised groups through the development of online,
digital and face to face programming.
This week we will join together in support of people with a disability in
our communities to promote health & social wellbeing through the arts
and raise awareness of the importance of creating the conditions where
people with disabilities experience equal opportunity and face no barriers
to participation in any element of their lives. The Council, through our
commitments set out in our Strategic Growth Plan and our Disability
Scheme and Action Plan, is committed to working to promote positive
attitudes and to encourage participation by disabled people in public life
and across our communities by creating accessible and user friendly
environments for everyone to enjoy.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed
to the full programme of events, activates and information sessions
planned.
