We are happy to welcome representatives from the founding seven members of the<br />

<strong>E3F</strong>-coalition. The panel members will engage in a discussion on aligning official trade<br />

and export finance with climate goals.<br />

Interview with Michael Waldron, Head of the Energy Investment Unit of the<br />

International Energy Agency, on the World Energy Outlook 2021 and the Net Zero by<br />

2050 report.<br />

You are invited to join a discussion and ask your questions in one of the breakout<br />

sessions.<br />

1. Net Zero by 2050<br />

Follow-up of the plenary interview with the International Energy Agency,<br />

including a detailed presentation and Q&A. Subsequently a presentation of<br />

the United Nations Environment Program – Financial Initiative. The speakers<br />

of this session are:<br />

• Michael Waldron, Head of the Energy Investment Unit of the<br />

International Energy Agency.<br />

• Daniel Bouzas, Regional Coordinator of UNEP FI.<br />

• Moderated by Irene Visser, Head of Strategy and International<br />

Relations of Atradius Dutch State Business.<br />

2. Financing the Green transition<br />

Presentation of a study on the role of export credits in the green energy<br />

transition. The speakers of this session are:<br />

• Andreas Klasen, Professor of International Business and Director of<br />

the Institute for Trade and Innovation (IfTI) at Offenburg University<br />

in Germany.


• Moderated by Nikki Kersten, Deputy Head of Export Finance and<br />

Investment Guarantees, Dutch Ministry of Finance.<br />

3. Fast-track renewable energy projects in devel<strong>op</strong>ing countries<br />

In the coming decade, investment in renewable energy projects in devel<strong>op</strong>ing<br />

countries needs to triple to reach our sustainable devel<strong>op</strong>ment and climate<br />

goals. This is not just a matter of scaling volume: many countries do not<br />

succeed yet in harnessing the potential of state of the art technologies.<br />

Business cases need to be unlocked, enabling infrastructure and policies need<br />

to be build, capacities strengthened, and investors need to find ways to<br />

navigate political and country risks. The economic <strong>op</strong>portunities and job<br />

potential are huge. This session deals with the role that export finance can<br />

play. The speakers of this session are:<br />

• Andrew Johnstone, CEO Climate Fund Managers.<br />

• Bert Bruning, Managing Director of Atradius Dutch State Business.<br />

15.15 Interview with Dutch State Secretary for Finance Hans Vijlbrief<br />

On the key take-aways of the closed High Level meeting. State Secretary Vijlbrief will<br />

share his vision on the importance of the <strong>E3F</strong>-coalition and the next steps. Followed<br />

by a Q&A with the audience.<br />

15.35 Interview with prof. Andreas Klasen<br />

Reflection on the breakout session of the study on the role of export credits in the<br />

green transition. With Andreas Klasen, Professor of International Business and<br />

Director of the Institute for Trade and Innovation (IfTI) at Offenburg University in<br />

Germany.<br />

15.45 Stakeholders Panel discussion<br />

Reflection on aligning official trade and export finance with climate goals and on the<br />

commitments made by <strong>E3F</strong> with representatives from industry, financial sector,<br />

academia and NGO’s.<br />
