Turn on the TV or hop onto social media, in
case you have any doubts. #witchesofintagram,
for example. It's everywhere right now, but is
there a particular reason or is it just another
fad doomed to die out in a few years to make a
come back in another 20 or so? "Witch" is such
a small word but it's loaded, encompassing so
many things that boil down to a few things,
one of which is rebellion, another, empowerment.
In 2018, the Pew Research Center reported that
most Americans, even those who self-identify
as Christians, hold "New Age" beliefs such as
belief in reincarnation, psychics, and astrology.
America is largely a spiritual country, as is the
rest of the world. Despite science and
organized religion, which come with a lot of
don'ts or can'ts, what is known as witchcraft is
now being practiced openly and even accepted.
And studied. And researched. Most of us feel
there is validity in these practices because we
have an understanding that there is something
going on behind the material world we live in.
Many believe we have entered a new
shift of ages. One in which we will
revolt against political corruption and
general oppression to enter what is
essentially an ascension. This
wouldn't be the first time, actually, it
happens every 26,000 years,
according to ancient cultures. By this
scale, we entered one in 2012 - the
Age of Aquarius, on December 21st,
2012 to be exact. A Golden Age. About
the time everyone first noticed the
Mandela Effect, too. Maybe there's
something to it. This new age refers
to a transition to the 5th dimension,
where dreams become reality and
manifestation is instantaneous. This
could be an excellent explanation for
the sudden rise is what used to be
shameful spirituality becoming so
mainstream . Whatever your beliefs,
there cannot be any fault in wanting
more connection to your
spiritual/higher self. Embrace this
"fad" and see where it takes us!

Born in ancient Egypt, where the word "Khem" was used in reference to the fertility of
the flood plains around the Nile, Alchemy arose from the Egyptians' belief in life after
death. Their mummification process reflects a goal of immortality. When Alexander the
Great conquered Egypt,
Greek philosophers merged
their ideas of the elements
of nature with the Egyptian
ways. They referred to Egypt
as "Khemia". Later, Egypt
became occupied by the
Arabs who added "al-" to
Khemia, creating al-Khemia
meaning "the Black Land".
This is most likely the origin
of the word "Alchemy". The
goals of the coming
alchemists were threefold:
to find the Stone of
Knowledge or Philosophers'
Stone, to discover the
medium of Eternal Youth
and Health, and to discover
the transmutation of metals.
As you can imagine, there

the subject, and this is still practiced today. There's a fantastic collection of alchemical

find the collection at www.levity.com/alchemy. There are study courses, texts, articles,
emblems, discussion groups, and much more. It's a wonderful place to get lost for hours a
day, really. Alchemy is recognized as being fundamental to the heritage of chemistry., and
the preservation of the study is taken seriously by many groups and laypeople. Something
you may have read or heard of at some point is spiritual alchemy, the transmutation of
the human spirit. It's an
ancient occult belief that we
may liberate our souls
through self-actualization
