EGG
The first stage of a butterfly’s life is a very small
oval, round, or cylindrical egg.
Female butterflies lay eggs on plants that will
eventually become the food for the caterpillars
that will hatch
STAGE
Some butterflies lay eggs singularly, while others lay
them in clusters. Each egg has a yolk that provides
nourishment for the developing larva.
It takes about 3 to 7 days for eggs to hatch.
