Faith Noble as our cover girl! Faith is only 

eleven years old and a newcomer to the 

modelling industry, but she definitely has 

what it takes and we hope you agree once 

you see her debut photos here in teenLook. 

The photo shoot took an adventurous tour 

of Edmonton’s LRT system and made for a 

unique look both on the trains and in the 

underground stations.

Welcome to another perfect issue of teenLook! I truly hope you all enjoy 

this one. We always get so many amazing submissions to the publication. 

I am proud to feature everyone that contributes to making this 

magazine possible. 

Switching to a bi-monthly publication has nothing to do with my passion for the 

magazine. It’s just about time and getting the rest I need between each issue to 

make it the best it can be for you guys. 

Dara and I had the honour to shoot with an upcoming star, Faith Noble. I have to 

admit setting out to ride the LRT here in Edmonton as the basis for the shoot left 

many questions as to the outcome, but thankfully the weather was great and we 

didn’t have any strange encounters along the way. The colours captured surprised 

me when I had the chance to upload and look at the photos. Shooting in 

low light and on a moving train can present it’s challenges, but just added to the 

fun. At the end of the day we all had smiles and could have kept shooting, but it 

was getting late. I look forward to see where Faith’s modelling journey takes her! I 

want to say a huge thank you to her family for making the long drive to Edmonton 

for this shoot. Crystal, Faith’s mom, is an amazing lady and was also a pleasure to 

hang out with. 

As with every issue I put out, I hope it encourages and inspires you to pursue your 

dreams and passions. Creating this magazine is definitely my passion and I look 

forward to all the submissions to start creating the next issue. We have some 

special stories and features lined up already. So, keep sending in your submissions 

and keep talking about the magazine. I know I don’t get out on social media 

enough to help spread the presence of teenLook. I need your help to let everyone 

know it’s here for them to be a part of.

Adam began his modeling career a little 

over one year ago, and during that time 

has walked in various fashion shows across 

Alberta. He was awarded a scholarship for 

Faces West Model and Talent Convention in 

Vancouver in November 2019 where he won 5 

awards and became a Top Teen Model. 

At 15 years old Adam is 6’1”. feet tall, very 

athletic, charming and kind. When he is not 

modeling or taking acting lessons, he loves 

to watch or engage in sporting activities such 

as snowboarding, mountain biking, wake 

boarding and hockey and enjoys hanging 

out with his family and friends.

My name is Ayden Kosko, I 

am a passionate and driven 

16 year freelance model from 

Lloydminster, AB/SK. 

I previously won Miss Teen 

Canada Petite 2018/19, Miss Teen 

Alberta Globe 2018 and I was a

Petite this past summer on 

Carnival Cruise to Mexico.

Priyanka keeps herself busy with various

Recently she was an honourable guest at the 

local beauty pageant, presenting awards and

reach their goals and dreams in a good way.

He also has been taking flying lessons for 

the last 6 months. When he’s not in school,

loves playing with his 2 year old Bernese 

mountain dog, Bailey. He also loves to play 

tennis and ski. 

Mathieu got his big break in the short film 

“Still Harlem” playing Ely Rosen, which 

was one of is first auditions of his acting

festivals around the United States. He is

When I first found out that 

I had been chosen to be on 

the cover of Teen Look, I was 

SO excited! As a new model, 

this is easily the biggest 

opportunity that I have been 

given! I could hardly sleep 

for the days leading up to the 

shoot! 

Getting to meet and work 

with Dara and James was 

absolutely incredible! I feel 

like I learned so much in our 

shoot! When I first heard that 

Dara (an international model) 

was going to be on set to 

work with me, I was both 

thrilled and terrified! Then 

I met Dara and the terror 

turned into absolute delight! 

The tips and guidance 

that Dara gave me were so 

helpful! How generous of her 

to share her expertise with 

me! 

And James had such a great 

vision! He was so easy to 

work with! His personality 

made me feel so at ease! And 

when I saw the shots he took, 

they honestly took my breath 

away! What an amazingly 

talented photographer. To 

be a part of the Teen Look 

team has been an absolute 

honour and privilege! The 8 

hours that we spent lovingly 

creating this cover were 

easily some of the greatest 

moments of my life this far! 

Now, I hope to take the 

things that I have learned, 

and continue to pursue my 

modeling goals. I would love 

to continue doing print work 

and runway work. I dream of 

someday following in Dara’s 

footsteps, and bringing a 

little Alberta girl onto the 

international runway!

I have been pretty busy the last few months. 

My family took a trip Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 

in January. We enjoyed playing beach 

volleyball on the beach, the pools, shopping 

in the markets, nightly walks on the malecon 

and trying new restaurants each night. 

We went on a few amazing excursions 

where we got to explore new parts of Mexico 

that we have never seen before. It was a 

very special experience and it helped me to 

appreciate everything that I have in my life! 

I am planning to attend Faces West 

International 2020 in Vancouver this Fall, 

so I am definitely looking forward to that 

opportunity and working on improving my 

portfolio this year! 

I have been very busy with my club volleyball 

team and completing my grade 10 year in 

high school. 

I am also looking forward to getting my 

driver’s license in a few months when I turn 

16!

I 

have always had an interest in 

photography, mostly wildlife 

and nature, though. 

About eight years ago, I had a little 

episode with high blood pressure 

and a night filled with stroke 

symptoms. My Doctor showed some 

concern and knowing my typical 

male attitude toward health issues, 

I knew that I would not follow my 

regimen of blood pressure meds. So 

he suggested that I either find a less 

stressful job or that I find a hobby 

that I can relax doing. 

Shortly after that, my brother 

mentioned having an old camera 

and lens that he was getting rid 

of so that he could upgrade his 

equipment. Not needing any fancy 

equipment to just play around as a 

hobby, I gladly accepted the camera 

from him and started spending time

in the woods taking photos. It quickly 

blossomed into more of a passion 

than a pastime, and I found myself 

upgrading my equipment. People 

began asking me to take photos for 

them and it just kind of snowballed 

from there. I currently use all Nikon 

and Sigma equipment. For no other 

real reason than the fact that the first 

camera given to me was a Nikon and 

after buying lenses and equipment to 

go with it, it would be too expensive 

to switch now. I would love to get into 

medium format cameras and would 

someday like to be able to afford a 

nice Hasselblad setup. But for now, 

the Nikon D810 and my old reliable 

Nikon D7000 will do. 

I’m not sure I really had influences. 

Like everyone who has ever thought 

of taking up photography either as

a hobby or a profession, I love the works of 

Ansel Adams. Seeing some of the amazing 

portraits of People like Jimmy Nelson and 

Rehahn, definitely inspire me to do creative 

and artistic work without trying to become 

a digital artist. Capturing the art with the 

camera and not with the computer software 

in post. 

Mario Testino has captured some of the 

greatest unedited candid shots of celebrities 

that I have ever seen, and I would certainly 

say that his work is an inspiration. But I 

would say that my only true inspiration came 

from watching the amazing artistic talents 

of my mother growing up. She never did 

photography, but her paintings and other 

works always left me in awe as a child, and 

they still, to this day, inspire me to try to be an 

artist with what I do.

The 

Soda Girls 

Series 

The soda girls series, albeit quite 

parochial, is my fun attempt 

at doing some fine art. It isn’t 

Whistler’s Mother or the Mona 

Lisa, but it is a fun and creative 

idea that has beauty and meaning 

to me as the artist. So is it fine art? 

I like to think so. 

The Soda girls shoots are certainly 

nothing original. There indeed 

are very few, if any, original ideas 

left out there. I am certain this 

concept has been done dozens of 

times, but I think that I did a good 

job of putting my own spin on the 

concept. 

It started as just one shoot where I 

asked my hair and makeup artist, 

Misty Lockheart, to use cans as 

rollers like the women used to do 

when I was a kid. We had so much 

fun doing it that I decided to go 

ahead and create an entire series 

with girls that I had worked with 

previously.

Fine art, in the true definition, is very 

important to me as a photographer. The 

term has been diluted horribly by the 

novice and facebook photographers who 

feel that fine art means naked women. 

Fine art can be defined as a visual art 

considered to have been created primarily 

for aesthetic purposes and judged for its 

beauty and meaningfulness, specifically, 

painting, sculpture, drawing, watercolour, 

graphics, and architecture. Unfortunately, 

in the photography world, fine art 

has been forced into a new and wildly 

unethical direction. I think that creating 

something before the photo is even taken 

is fine art. 

what does 

Fine Art 

mean to me? 

My future in photojournalism? That is a 

loaded question. With a little over six years 

left until I can retire from my dreaded 

day job and tackle this full time, I am not 

sure. I honestly would love to be travelling 

the country and the world shooting with 

other amazingly talented artists and 

creating some really eye-catching and 

lasting works of art. I think it would be 

pretty groovy to be the photographer to 

the stars and work with major magazines 

and news outlets.

I live on the beautiful Gold Coast in 

Queensland, Australia with my family 

and two cats. I am part of the Dance 

Excellence program at High School and 

enjoy all of the opportunities that has 

brought me. 

I am new to the modelling scene and 

signed with Reel Management based 

on the Gold Coast late 2019. It has given 

me the opportunity to meet so many 

people in the industry who have all been 

welcoming and supportive. 

As well as spending time with my family 

and friends, I enjoy hanging out at the 

beach, meeting new people, cooking, 

drawing, dancing and fashion.

In 1978 Leonard Nimoy 

hosted a documentary 

that detailed the climate 

shift and the effects of 

global cooling. 

Now 42 years later the 

story has changed... 

Focus on climate change is nothing new. In 

fact, scientists and governments have been 

monitoring the changing weather systems 

for centuries. Scientific expeditions to the 

Antarctic and Greenland have drawn ice core 

samples, revealing many secrets of Earth’s past. 

Studies have shown extreme changes in the 

Earth’s weather patterns from global warming 

to global cooling trends. 

In 1978, Lenoard Nimoy, Dr. Spock of Star Trek 

fame, hosted a documentary that shed light 

on the possible coming ice age. Yes, that is 

right, as a planet, we were heading towards 

the next ice age! Now. Forty two years later, the 

focus is not on the impending global cooling 

scare; rather, we are experiencing the effects 

of global warming. How things can change 

so dramatically in such a short time. It is as if 

there is an outside force at work on the weather 

systems. Have you ever heard of HAARP? (High- 

Frequency Active Auroral Research Program)

Greta’s initial ‘School 

Strike for the Climate’ 

began in 2018 when she 

was just 15. She spent part 

of her school days outside 

the Swedish Parliament 

to raise awareness and 

calling for more action regarding 

climate change. 

As quoted by the US Military, 

“Weather modification will become a part of domestic and 

international security and could be done unilaterally… It 

could have offensive and defensive applications and even 

be used for deterrence purposes. The ability to generate 

precipitation, fog, and storms on Earth or to modify space 

weather, … and the production of artificial weather all are a 

part of an integrated set of technologies which can provide 

substantial increase in US, or degraded capability in an 

adversary, to achieve global awareness, reach, and power.” 

(US Air Force, emphasis added. Air University of the US Air 

Force, AF 2025 Final Report) 

That’s a rabbit hole for another discussion, and 

should not be taken lightly nonetheless. We just 

won’t go down it today.

The other and a probably 

more accepted argument for 

the change is our constant 

and increased dependence 

of fossil fuels as an energy 

source. We cannot survive 

without a source of energy, 

that is a fact. The whole 

movement to address the 

global warming crisis we are 

facing is directed at curbing 

our use of fossil fuels and 

finding alternative sources 

of energy. Again, this is not a 

new concept and has been a 

debated and critical issue for 

decades. So, is there anything 

wrong with addressing the 

climate change crisis? Of 

course not. It’s something 

that people have been doing 

for decades and will continue 

to do in the years to come. 

Let’s take a look at what 

Greta Thunberg is debating. 

She is a 17-year old teen 

environmental activist 

from Sweden who started 

a campaign bringing the 

dilemma of global warming 

international recognition — 

and was instantly praised 

for her courage and passion. 

Even I have to admit that 

when I heard her speaking 

at the 2018 United Nations 

Climate Change Conference, 

I was moved. Her passion was 

mesmerizing. But was what 

she was saying anything 

new? Not entirely. Even still, it 

brought an awakening to the 

global community to start 

being serious about a change 

and pressing for more action. 

The words of wisdom coming 

from this young lady were 

profound. As most teens 

are aware, many grownups 

don’t like taking advice 

from a child. This is evident 

with the divide of positive 

and negative supporters of 

the Greta movement. The 

Russian Pundits seemed to 

deem her insight and words, 

that merely of a child, and 

not very well informed. Even 

President Donald Trump 

snubbed her as childlike 

and mocked her speech. 

While some can agree that 

her address may have been 

overly dramatic and slightly 

exaggerated, I hope we still 

can admire her courage and 

tenacity at the moment. 

Could we honestly say that 

we would have the same 

courage to get up and deliver 

a speech like that? She had 

the attention of the whole 

world, and we were eager to 

see what would develop next. 

Greta went on through 2018- 

2019 to be acknowledged 

and to win numerous awards 

for her work. Being named 

Time’s top 25 influential 

teenagers in 2018 and then in 

2019 as the top 100 influential 

people and going on to be

featured on the cover of 

the December issue as 

Time Magazine’s Person 

of the Year. She was also 

nominated twice for the 

Nobel Peace Prize, once 

in 2019 and then again in 

2020. 

Along with these 

accolades, Greta attained 

over a dozen more awards 

and recognitions for her 

activism work. It goes 

without saying that this 

inspiring teen is making 

an impact! 

Unfortunately, along 

with the recognition for 

her well-doing, there is 

also a negative attack 

from various reporters. 

Some journalists feel 

that because they hide 

behind a camera and 

bare the right to free 

speech, they have the 

unequivocal right to bully 

and intimidate to make a 

point. 

Derek Zoolander said it best: 

“Do you understand that the 

world does not revolve around 

you and your do whatever it 

takes, ruin as many people’s 

lives, so long as you can make 

a name for yourself as an 

investigatory journalist, no 

matter how many friends you 

lose or people you leave dead 

and bloodied along the way, just 

so long so you can make a name 

for yourself as an investigatory 

journalist, no matter how many 

friends you lose or people you 

leave dead and bloodied and 

dying along the way?” 

In all seriousness, though, 

the fact of the matter 

remains. I don’t think 

anyone has the right to 

bully or intimidate a 16 

year-old girl for making a 

statement and leading a 

cause to help better the 

world we live in. Sure, I 

understand that there are 

most likely people behind 

her with an agenda and 

are coaching her. But is 

it wrong to have a team 

delegated to creating 

the best ideas to be 

presented? The Prime 

Minister or President of 

a country does not work 

alone. They have a staff 

of administrators and 

advisors, helping them to 

make the best decisions 

and actions. So why 

should it be any different 

in Greta’s situation to 

have help? She has openly 

admitted her mental 

handicaps, namely, 

Asperger’s syndrome 

and OCD (Obsessive 

Compulsive Disorder), 

reinforcing the need for 

assistance. 

I think any youth set 

upon reaching the world 

should have all the 

necessary support 

to achieve that 

goal and should 

not be faulted 

for it. Of course, 

financial assistance 

is required to help 

fund a worldwide 

tour as grand 

as the one she 

has undertaken. 

People looking to 

undermine her 

cause seek to find 

the hidden agenda 

of her supporters 

and use these 

excuses to make the 

point that Greta is 

not genuine in her 

cause. 

The fact that remains 

is the need to keep our 

focus on our world and 

how we can all work 

together to keep it healthy 

for the generations to 

come. 

Is Greta an inspiration to 

you? She is to me. 

Her belief in a cause and 

raising her voice to be 

heard regardless of the 

backlash is commendable 

and a lesson many of us 

can take to heart. 

It doesn’t matter who you 

are, where you are from, 

or what you did... Oh wait, 

I’m quoting a Backstreet 

Boy’s song. Sorry. 

The point remains, 

speak up for what you 

believe in, and YOU 

can make a difference 

in this world. Make the 

world a better place by 

being a better person, 

and anything can 

happen.

Hi Sophia! I was wondering what your best advice 

for getting into modeling would be? I live 

in Illinois and here there isn’t much opportunity. 

I really love fashion and ever since I was little 

I wanted to try modeling. -Taylor 

Hi Taylor! Thanks for reaching out. I know 

sometimes it can be tricky to learn the ropes 

of the modeling industry, and how you can 

start. The most important thing to keep in 

mind before you start applying to agencies is 

that it is not ever a piece of cake to get into 

the entertainment industry- lots of patience, 

persistence and practice is needed to do it, 

but if you are willing to put in the work, I 

know you’ll do amazing! 

The first step is sending some applications 

to local agencies. Search the web for agencies 

near your town/city, and once you come 

across one you are interested in, navigate the 

site to find applications. Once you send in 

your photos and basic information, just give 

it time before you hear back. From there, it’s 

very important to start practicing, attend 

shoots, and market yourself on Instagram. 

Once you have an agent, they should help 

guide you as well. 

Although an agent is helpful, you cannot 

only rely on your agent to find you work. It’s 

very important to put yourself out there, to 

do photoshoots as much as possible, and 

constantly be submitting to magazines. If 

you can’t afford doing several shoots, that’s 

okay- there are ways around it such as doing 

tfp work, or even asking family/friends to 

practice with you. After you receive photos 

from shoots, you’ll want to take the best ones 

and submit them for consideration in magazines.

feel, and you can take my word because I’ve 

been bullied before too. It’s tough, and it’s 

something that takes courage to overcome. 

If you are going through bullying, it’s really 

important to know that you are not alone, 

and there are several people that can help 

you. Just to name a few, consider talking to a 

parent, a close friend, teacher, coach, or even 

myself. You can always reach out to the kids 

help phone line anytime you need some support! 

After you find the courage to reach out 

to someone for help, I can promise they will 

do everything they can to help you.

Oats & Apple Muffins 

Ingredients: 

3 cups oats 

1 ½ tsp. baking powder 

2 tsp. cinnamon 

1 cup almond milk 

1 cup unsweetened apple sauce 

2 eggs 

¼ cup honey or maple syrup 

2 finely diced apples 

Combine all ingredients and bake in parchment 

lining papers at 375 degrees F for 20-22 

minutes. Enjoy!

Hey Ananya! Thanks for your question. I totally 

understand your challenge and I’m excited to 

give you some guidance. The best way to get 

your work out there, is honestly by putting 

yourself out there. At first, it can be hard to 

find magazines or publications with openings, 

but if you keep consistent with checking 

job postings/openings and other cool opportunities 

online, something will soon come 

along. Another thing that is important to do 

in the meantime is continuing to practice 

writing pieces. The more you write, the more 

you’ll improve which will gain you valuable 

experience that those publications are looking 

for. 

As for creating content, my best advice would 

be to always write when you feel inspired/ get 

a new idea. I’m guilty of this, however if you 

come up with a good idea or feel in the mood 

to write, I would recommend getting that 

idea out right away and expressing your piece 

based on that. Yes, you could always just write 

it down and think on it more later, but trust 

me, you will not be able to completely regenerate 

your original ideas.

are engaging on alike pages by leaving genuine 

likes/comments and supporting others in 

your community. 

Take advantage of hashtags- Hashtags are an 

amazing way to reach new people. As much 

as we love having our followers see new updates, 

hashtags allow your posts to go beyond 

that, and reach more people who might be 

interested in your content! 

Work on building real relationships with your 

followers- this one might be tough, because 

after all, communication can be difficult 

when it’s not done in person, however being 

supportive to those around your community 

and supporting one another will also benefit 

you in the end. Also, be real. No one wants to 

see a ‘perfect’ life in the tiny grids on Instagram- 

because truth be told, that’s not reality. 

The more real you are with them, the more 

real they’ll become with you!

children. They live in Pereira, a city 

surrounded by stunning mountains, 

situated in the heart of the coffee 

triangle in western Colombia. Their 

neighbourhood, Kennedy, is named 

after the former U.S. president. It is on 

the edge of the city surrounded by 

the Andes. 

Mariana and Karen love living in the 

Kennedy neighbourhood. 

“We all know each other so it feels 

safe and we go to the same school as 

our parents did. Some of our teachers 

taught our parents.”

Karen loves volleyball and

was 13. She still plays for 

her high school team with 

Mariana. 

Karen says that for her 

volleyball is much more 

than strategy, serving and 

spiking; it is about being

Mariana Lince is 16 studying 

at Lestonnac Institute which 

is a girls Catholic high school 

run by nuns. It is the same 

school Karen went to and has 

the volleyball team they play 

for. 

Mariana draws inspiration 

from Colombian high jump, 

long jump and triple jump 

athlete and Olympian, 

Caterine Ibargüen. She is the 

reason Mariana decided to 

become an athlete.

Last year she was in 17 Fashion 

Shows, 6 photo-shoots & modeled 

for America’s Mart in Atlanta twice 

(for World of Prom). She maintains 

A’s / B’s in honors and AP classes. 

She’s kind, caring, and 

compassionate. She does a lot 

for others by interning at a local 

elementary school, volunteering, 

and participating in her church 

youth group events.

Karina has been a model for over 4 years. She 

has modeled on the runway for International 

Vancouver Gala fashion show in Vancouver 

and has been modeling and shooting since 

the age of 12. She was a competitive dancer for 

over 9 years. 

The modeling all started with her first training 

in Disney World as an actor and model in 

USA in 2015 following with another training 

in Tampa Bay in 2016 with an american 

modeling management agency. She is now 

booked for a teen runway fashion show 

in Manhattan, New York this September 

2020. She is represented by Charles Stuart 

International as a model in Vancouver. 

Karina is a professional dancer, actor with 

credits in professional Musical Theatre 

Productions in B.C. She loves what she does 

with working hard in high school and also 

being an assistant to the dance choreographer 

in the Musical Productions she performs in.
