with a.o. Heinz Gappmayr; Meyer Kainer naturally presents Gelatin and Franz West; and<br />

Galerie nächst St. Stephan Rosemarie Schwarzwälder features Polly Apfelbaum, Herbert<br />

Brandl, and Adrian Schiess, among other artists. The list from Vienna goes on: Galerie Raum<br />

mit Licht, who will present works by John Hilliard and Ernst Koslitch a.o., GABRIELE SENN<br />

galerie with a.o. Elfie Semotan and Hans Weigand, Kunsthandel Heinrich Steinek with a.o.<br />

Walter Pichler, and Galerie Hubert Winter with a.o. Lawrence Weiner. From Gmunden and<br />

once again at the fair is Galerie 422 Margund Lössl with a.o. Xenia Hausner and Otto Zitko.<br />

And last but not least, Arnold Schmidt and Oswald Tschirtner will be showcased by galerie<br />

gugging at VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary.<br />

Exciting solo presentations in ZONE 1<br />

ZONE 1, a proven site <strong>of</strong> exceptional presentations, is also a part <strong>of</strong> the <strong>2012</strong> VIENNAFAIR<br />

The New Contemporary. Galleries are given special conditions for twenty-square-meter<br />

spaces in an open booth system where they can make solo presentations <strong>of</strong> the works <strong>of</strong><br />

young artists. The Graz-based artist Wolfgang Becksteiner presents object and video art at<br />

the booth <strong>of</strong> Galerie Heike Curtze (Vienna); spaces are a central theme in the paintings <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Austrian Dominik Louda, who will be featured by Kerstin Engholm Galerie (Vienna). Stephan<br />

Reusse, who taught at the Media Art College in Cologne from 2000 to 2006, displays his<br />

media art with Lukas Feichtner Galerie (Vienna); with the project Djinni in a Bottle, Galerie Lisi<br />

Hämmerle (Bregenz) presents cutting-edge art with the latest 3D technologies; Projektraum<br />

Viktor Bucher (Vienna) exhibits works by Daniel Leidenfrost, known for his staged<br />

photography; and Andrae Kaufmann (Berlin) presents drawings and objects <strong>of</strong> Bettina Krieg.<br />

Christina Zurfluh, who was invited by Galerie Mezzanin (Vienna) to ZONE1, combines<br />

painting and sculpture in her works. The recently opened OstLicht. Galerie für Fotografie<br />

(Vienna) contributes with the photographer Andreas Duscha. Architecture <strong>of</strong> the modern is<br />

thematized by GABRIELE SENN galerie (Vienna) in their presentation <strong>of</strong> Marko Lulić. Ilse<br />

Haider presents her multimedia photographic works at the booth <strong>of</strong> Galerie Silvia Steinek, and<br />

Jana Farmanová spices up ZONE1 with her serial imagery at the booth <strong>of</strong> Vernon Gallery<br />

(Prague). After a residency in Bad Gastein this summer, Florian Neufeldt is showing new<br />

works at the ZONE 1 stand <strong>of</strong> Gallery Opdahl (Berlin). The subject <strong>of</strong> money plays a<br />

significant role in Carlos Airesʼs installation in ZONE 1, which is being presented by Mario<br />

Mauroner Contemporary Art (Salzburg/Vienna). Figge von Rosen Galerie (Berlin) are making<br />

their entire stand available for the Russian-born, Nottingham (GB) resident artist Velena<br />

Popova. Room-filling sculptures by Gregor Gaida can be expected at the PARROTTA<br />

(Stuttgart) stand in ZONE 1. Polina Kanis was already present in Vienna this year in the group<br />

show Russian Renaissance. Her videos will be presented in ZONE 1 at the VIENNAFAIR The<br />

New Contemporary by Galleria Glance (Turin). The Alma Gallery <strong>of</strong> Riga will be presenting<br />

Lithuanian Krišs Salmanis who was born in 1977. Manila native Jayson Oliveria will present<br />

his paintings with Zimmermann Kratochwill (Graz).<br />
