Thank you Orinda! from Joan Kiekhaefer, EFO President 2009–2012 The Orinda community has once again demonstrated its strong support for excellence in local public schools helping EFO raise $1.5 million in 2010-2011. Thank you for investing in quality education which makes our community a very desirable place to live and work. With the funds donated this year, EFO enabled the elementary schools to retain art and music programs, provided a varied mix of electives and foreign language classes at both OIS and Miramonte, and reduced the number of students in all English classes at Miramonte. You will see a full list of all of the classes and programs to be funded this year by EFO on the following pages. Additionally in 2011-2012, EFO is pleased to provide all funding for visual and performing arts activities at Miramonte. I would like to recognize Chip and Carolyn Herman for their leadership in organizing the Orinda Classic Car Show and Dancing with the Cars dinner for the last seven years. This is a great community event that also generates a significant financial benefit for EFO. EFO could not fulfill its mission without numerous dedicated and hard working board members and volunteers. Thank you for the countless hours devoted to ensuring that Orinda has top rated schools.
EFO pledges $1,515,000 for 2011–2012 EFO is important to students of all ages and at every Orinda school. Together, EFO, Parents’ Clubs, and our local parcel tax will fund 32% of the K–8 Orinda schools budget and 24 % of the Miramonte budget in 2011–2012. EFO relies on all of us to help maintain excellence in Orinda schools.
