Thepadlet complements the existingGeneral Teaching Council forScotland's leaflet ‘So you want toteach in Gaelic?’.WHAT IS A PADLET?A padlet is a digital noticeboardwhere websites, documents andvideos are clearly displayed on asingle wall.WHO IS IT FOR?One of our padlets providesguidance for registered teacherswho wish to develop theirDo dh’Oileanaich -For studentslanguage skills in order totransfer to Gaelic MediumEducation; while the otherpadlet has been created forthose considering anundergraduate or postgraduatecourse in Gaelic Education toteach Gaelic as a subject or toteach a secondary subjectthrough the medium of Gaelic.Access the padlet by scanningthe QR codes.If you have any questions, pleasecontact our Development Officerat angela@gaidhlig.scotDo Thidsearan Clàraichte -For Registered TeachersIt’s time forus to becomeaspirationalAS WE MOVE towards the end ofCovid-19 restrictions and look to ourlives post-pandemic, it is time for us tobe aspirational. For the past two years,we have had to give our full attention tomitigating the effects of the virus andprotecting our NHS. Governments havehad to fulfil their duty to the citizens bytaking appropriate measure to protectthem from a highly transmissible virus.We are not entirely out of the woodsyet, although a lot of data is showing uson the right track and coming to the endof our need to treat Covid-19 as anexistential threat.So it is time for us to look forwardtowards to the time when we can moveour focus towards future facing policythat can make a real and positivedifference here in Scotland.We have an opportunity that doesn’tcome along all that often in governance,to operate with as close to a legislativeblank slate as we are likely ever to get.The question for those in Governmentis: What are you going to do with thisblank slate? Are you going to use it totake a fresh look at issues investing timeand resources in new attempts andschemes to address them? Issues thathave become a stain on Scotland likehomelessness, A&E waiting times,education attainment gaps and horrificlevels of drugs deaths all could beapproached without the baggage ofhaving to adhere to a previouslyunsuccessful policy.It seems that the party of Governmentin Scotland is uninterested in taking thisopportunity, and would rather push onwith a tired and unsuccessful suit ofideas, the pinnacle of which isrepresented by their nationalistobsession of driving a wedge throughthe middle of Scotland and holdinganother referendum.The SNP is a prime example of agovernment that has been in power fortoo long and has run out of ideas. Theyhave no answers for the mess that theyhave made and are unwilling to seize thisopportunity of a clean slate to come upwith a fresh strategy. Instead they revertto type and promote division. It is timefor the Scottish People to evaluatewhether they wish to continue with thisstale and unimaginative governance.Jeremy BalfourConservative MSP for Lothian
