The front trunk is a great feature.
I cannot name all of the little back roads
that we travelled and the guys tell me
that we took those roads to avoid the
bad roads! Well I shudder to think how
bad the bad roads must be! And when
you consider all of that, this small Honda
is really very impressive.
Now next year when I come for The
Motul Roof Of Africa, if the roads
are better, may I please use the new
anniversary Fireblade?

My NC750 opinion:
We had lots of long straight roads to
cruise on, which gave me the opportunity
to properly try out the power and braking
capabilities of the new NC, as well as
some obstacle avoidance in the form of
potholes bigger than the bike scattered
across the never-ending Freestate roads.
Throttle response is pretty much instant
and very smooth, and with the DCT you
just twist and go. The bike always knows
exactly what gear to be in. If you just
pull away gently, it’ll shift smoothly and
economically. If you pin the throttle to
overtake a truck, the bike instantly drops
2 or 3 gears to get you into the right
powerband, and it has more than enough
power to push you from 100 to 130
quickly to overtake with ease.
The brakes work 100%, and they were
desperately needed to slow down for
the mass of potholes littered across our
roads after this wonderfully long rainy
season, and the ABS works perfectly,
not a single skid was made amongst the
many frantic emergency brakes.
As is always the case with the NC750,
it’s not a racebike, it’s not a sports bike,
and it’s not a sports tourer. Even the
sports mode isn’t really all that sporty.
This is a bike that’s perfect for beginners,
or relaxed commuting. It won’t get you
into trouble and you’ll get wherever you
want to be with the greatest comfort.
