Our goal is to provide a comfortable<br />
<strong>and</strong> creative workshop environment<br />
where we may share <strong>the</strong> tradition<br />
of voice <strong>and</strong> movement work in <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong>atre with <strong>the</strong> professional world<br />
of speech-language pathologists.<br />
The small group format will ensure<br />
each individual has ample time for<br />
exploration <strong>and</strong> application of <strong>the</strong><br />
practical work.<br />

Janine Pearson is Head of <strong>Voice</strong> <strong>and</strong> Coaching for<br />
<strong>the</strong> Stratford Shakespeare <strong>Festival</strong>. She coordinates<br />
a team of specialist coaches who serve <strong>the</strong> company<br />
in meeting <strong>the</strong> physical <strong>and</strong> vocal dem<strong>and</strong>s of staging<br />
<strong>the</strong> plays in repertory, <strong>and</strong> teaches for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>’s<br />
Education <strong>and</strong> Conservatory programs. During her<br />
tenure Janine was also Head of <strong>Voice</strong> <strong>and</strong>, finally,<br />
Associate Artistic Director of <strong>the</strong> English section of <strong>the</strong><br />
National Theatre School of Canada (Montreal). She<br />
is presently on <strong>the</strong> advisory council of Ryerson University’s department<br />
of dance <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>atre <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> board of directors of Toronto’s Centre for<br />
<strong>the</strong> Arts. She has taught <strong>and</strong> given workshops across Canada, in <strong>the</strong><br />
U.S. <strong>and</strong> in London (Engl<strong>and</strong>) to actors, singers, educators, politicians,<br />
clergy <strong>and</strong> business people. Presently, she serves as a dialect/dialogue<br />
coach on <strong>the</strong> new CBC series The Republic of Doyle. She looks forward to<br />
returning to HB Studios (New York) <strong>and</strong> working with <strong>the</strong> Shakespeare by<br />
<strong>the</strong> Sea company (Newfoundl<strong>and</strong>). Janine holds an ADVS from <strong>the</strong> Central<br />
School of Speech <strong>and</strong> Drama (London), B.Music <strong>and</strong> BFA degrees from<br />
<strong>the</strong> University of Regina <strong>and</strong> an associate diploma in singing from <strong>the</strong><br />
University of Alberta (Edmonton).<br />
Lori Holmes is a respected speech-language<br />
pathologist with over 20 years of experience,<br />
integrating a solid background in science with<br />
practical experience in training <strong>the</strong> voice. For 10<br />
years she has been an integral part of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>’s<br />
coaching team, where her combined skills are brought<br />
to support <strong>the</strong> challenges of <strong>the</strong> performing voice. A<br />
dynamic speaker, she provides workshops in voice<br />
care <strong>and</strong> training for various professionals throughout<br />
Ontario. She is an ongoing presenter with <strong>the</strong> Artist’s Health Centre<br />
(Toronto), providing workshops <strong>and</strong> lectures to professional artists <strong>and</strong><br />
students in training. In London, her private practice, WellSpoken, provides<br />
voice, speech <strong>and</strong> fluency <strong>the</strong>rapy as well as services in communication<br />
skills, accent reduction <strong>and</strong> voice rehabilitation for actors. She currently<br />
teaches <strong>the</strong> graduate course in voice <strong>and</strong> voice disorders to speechlanguage<br />
pathology students at <strong>the</strong> University of Western Ontario, lectures<br />
to <strong>the</strong> otolaryngology residents at <strong>the</strong> Schulich School of Medicine <strong>and</strong><br />
is <strong>the</strong> speech-language pathologist in <strong>the</strong> Vocal Function Clinic, London<br />
Health Sciences Centre. Lori obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in<br />
communication disorders <strong>and</strong> a Master of Science degree in speechlanguage<br />
pathology from <strong>the</strong> University of Western Ontario.<br />
Kelly McEvenue has 28 <strong>Festival</strong> seasons as a<br />
teacher of <strong>the</strong> Alex<strong>and</strong>er <strong>Technique</strong> <strong>and</strong> movement<br />
coach. She instructs for <strong>the</strong> Birmingham Conservatory<br />
<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> Education programs. Kelly is an<br />
Associate Artist with Soulpepper Theatre Company,<br />
coaching both <strong>the</strong> Academy <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> acting company.<br />
She is a faculty member in <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>atre performance<br />
program at Humber College <strong>and</strong> was recently invited<br />
to teach <strong>the</strong> Actors Conservatory at <strong>the</strong> Canadian<br />
Film Centre. A career highlight was coaching Mirvish Productions’ The<br />
Lion King. Internationally, she has assisted renowned voice teacher<br />
Patsy Rodenburg in international workshops for voice teachers, <strong>and</strong><br />
has taught at <strong>the</strong> Guildhall in <strong>the</strong> U.K. She is a guest artist at Interlochen<br />
School for Performing Arts <strong>and</strong> Wayne State University. Engaged by Hunt<br />
Communication, Kelly has taught performance <strong>and</strong> communication skills<br />
to lawyers, bankers, judges <strong>and</strong> politicians. A movement consultant for<br />
numerous films <strong>and</strong> television programs, she coached Shawn Ashmore<br />
to play Terry Fox in Shaftesbury Films’ Terry. She assisted film director<br />
Jeremy Podeswa on script <strong>and</strong> character development workshops for his<br />
films The Five Senses <strong>and</strong> Fugitive Pieces. Kelly is <strong>the</strong> author of The Actor<br />
<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Alex<strong>and</strong>er <strong>Technique</strong>.
