Use positive wording when making your goals. Eg. “I’m<br />
going to clean up the machsan” vs. “I don’t want the<br />
machsan to be in a mess”, “I’m going to lose weight and<br />
get in shape”, vs. “I don’t want to be overweight and<br />
unhealthy.”<br />
Make goals that challenge you to use all your<br />
talents and abilities.<br />
What are the most important areas of your life? Make<br />
goals for each important area. Make sure that you have<br />
goals about the kind of person you want to be, the<br />
positive traits you want to excel in and the values you<br />
want to live by.<br />
Read your goals each day. Repeating them to<br />
yourself keeps them energizing you.<br />
Make your goals SMART:<br />
Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound<br />
SPECIFIC A specific goal has a much greater chance<br />
of being accomplished than a general goal. To set a<br />
specific goal answer the questions:<br />
Who: Who is involved?<br />
What: What do I want to accomplish?<br />
Where: Identify a location.<br />
When: Establish a time frame.<br />
Which: Identify requirements and constraints.<br />
Why: Specific reasons, purpose or benefits of<br />
accomplishing the goal. Know why you want to reach<br />
each goal. What specifically does each goal mean to<br />
you?<br />
EXAMPLE: A general goal would be, “Get in shape.”<br />
But a specific goal would say, “Join a health club and<br />
workout 3 mornings a week, 10-11am, starting one<br />
week from now.”<br />
Measurable Establish concrete criteria for measuring<br />
your progress. Ask questions such as…How much? How<br />
many? How will I know when it is accomplished?<br />
Attainable When you identify goals that are most<br />
important to you, you begin to figure out ways you<br />
can make them come true. You develop the attitudes,<br />
abilities, skills, and financial capacity to reach them.<br />
Realistic Are you willing and able to do what it takes<br />
to achieve your goal? Do you truly believe that it can be<br />
accomplished?<br />
Time-bound You can attain almost any goal you set<br />
when you plan your steps wisely and establish a time<br />
Positive Goals<br />

WHAT'S WHAT'S<br />
COOKING? COOKING?<br />
INGREDIENTS<br />
FOR THE PASTRY:<br />
1 cup + 2tbsp flour (200gm)<br />
100gm unsalted butter, frozen<br />
1/4 tsp baking powder<br />
1 beaten egg<br />
A generous pinch of salt<br />
FOR THE FILLING:<br />
2 cups chopped mushrooms<br />
1 large onion, chopped<br />
1/2 cup milk<br />
3/4 cup shredded cheese<br />
2 beaten eggs<br />
Freshly ground pepper<br />
Salt to taste<br />
1 tbsp oil<br />
PREPARE THE PASTRY:<br />
1. Mix flour, salt, baking<br />
powder together<br />
2. Cut the butter into cubes &<br />
mix well with fingertips until<br />
the mixture resembles coarse<br />
sand.<br />
3. Add the egg and bring the<br />
dough together. You can add a<br />
few drops of ice cold water if<br />
needed. 4. Transfer the dough<br />
to a floured surface. Roll it out<br />
about 1/2” thick.<br />
5. Transfer dough to a greased<br />
pie dish. Gently lift the rolled<br />
out dough and lay it over the<br />
dish. Press it down lightly at<br />
the bottom and along the sides.<br />
6. Refrigerate this crust while<br />
you put together the filling.<br />
7. Pre-heat the oven to 350F /<br />
180C.<br />

TO PREPARE THE FILLING:<br />
1. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the<br />
onions until golden brown.<br />
2. Add the mushrooms and saute until soft and all the water<br />
has evaporated from the pan.<br />
3. Top off with ground pepper and salt and mix well.<br />
4. Cool completely.<br />
5. Break 2 eggs into a bowl and beat lightly.<br />
6. Add 1/2 a cup milk to the eggs.<br />
7. Top off with about 3/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.<br />
8. Mix well.<br />
9. Bring out the prepared crust from the fridge.<br />
9. Lay the onion mushroom mixture evenly on it.<br />
10. Top it off with the milk-egg-cheese mixture until it<br />
reaches almost up to the top of the crust.<br />
11. Bake until the top turns golden brown and patchy in<br />
parts and the crust turns golden - about 25 to 30 mins.<br />
12. Cut into wedges and serve warm.<br />

Your Workout<br />
Eating and exercise go hand in hand.<br />
When, and what you eat can be<br />
important to how you feel when you<br />
exercise, whether it’s a casual workout<br />
or a serious athletic competition. Just<br />
keep in mind that the duration and<br />
intensity of your activity will dictate<br />
how often and what you should eat and<br />
drink. Running a marathon demands<br />
more energy in the way of food than<br />
does walking two miles — but whatever<br />

attention to your meals and snacks.<br />
1. EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST<br />
If you exercise in the morning, get up early<br />
enough to eat breakfast — that may mean<br />
one to two hours before your workout.<br />
Most of the energy you got from dinner the<br />
previous night is used up by morning, and<br />
your blood sugar may be low. If you don’t<br />
eat, you may feel sluggish or lightheaded<br />
when you exercise. If you plan to exercise<br />
within an hour after breakfast, eat a lighter<br />
breakfast or drink something to raise<br />
your blood sugar, such as a sports drink.<br />
Emphasize carbohydrates for maximum<br />
energy. Good breakfast options include:<br />
whole-grain cereals or bread, low-fat milk,<br />
juice, or bananas.<br />
2. PORTION SIZE MATTERS<br />
Be careful not to overdo it when it comes to<br />
how much you eat before exercise. Eating<br />
too much before you exercise can leave<br />
you feeling sluggish, or worse, with a case<br />
of diarrhea or stomach cramps. Eating too<br />
little may not give you the energy to keep<br />
