The

Training

Changing Face of

Learn to Upskill

and

Certification

The pandemic revamped all the aspects of

businesses, work, and workplaces. Employee

training and certification cannot be an exception.

The traditional processes and practices have evolved and

will evolve continuously.

The old training and upskilling strategies have been

reoriented around the questions of training whom, training

what, training how, training when and where, and training

how much. These questions arise from changing business

scenarios, customer expectations, technological and

regulatory frameworks because of the course of the

pandemic and an unforeseen future.

Finding answers to these questions will allow training and

certification providers to design their new programs and

modules according to the needs and requirements of the

businesses, employees, and market forces shaping the

change. Also, it will shift their focus from only present to

the present and future combined, with a bit of backdrop of

past.

Ultimately, it will prepare the businesses and their

workforce to cope with present market demands, comply

with present and future market expectations and become

evolving professionals.

Many organisations have already taken these pandemicinfluenced

challenges as an opportunity to reflect on their

employees' current strengths, weaknesses and analyse the

kind of training programs they can module to best suit their

future expectations from their working professionals.

Changing Rules and Changing Roles:

Be it financial, banking, economic, and insurance sector or

retail, e-commerce, automobile, and F&B sector, more and

more consumers are going digital rather than physically

walking in and out of the branches or stores. This has ended

many traditional employee roles on the one hand, while, on

the other hand, increased digitalization has created many

new roles. This has forced businesses to not only change

their external operational policies but also interoperability

practices and guidelines including their rules for employee

recruitment and employee training and engagement.

Thus, the HR organisations catering to workforce training

and certification, and talent management needs, had to

change their strategic approach.

#Hybrid Workplace: Critical Workforce Capabilities

There is a need for special training split into two - in-office

and remote workforce groups. Both groups can be trained

either simultaneously or separately. The key is to make

remote trainees feel as involved as in-office trainees.

Active communication and listening, critical leadership

thinking, online/offline customer focus, and

teamwork/collaborations are the essential capabilities

trainers/talent managers must focus on for development.

#Techno-Savvy Personnel: Digital Expertise

Digital tools such as social-sharing Apps, live audio chats,

and video sessions that create a deep and meaningful sense
