It'll be Okay<br />
Celebrate Nicole's journey<br />
into adulthood as she turns<br />
18. She and her sisters are the<br />
reason I live. A father's love<br />
for his children is equaled by<br />
nothing else.<br />
Things have been a bit of a roller coaster ride in my<br />
life since last year and even though the worst is not<br />
yet over, things have stabilized for now. My family<br />
has a history of heart disease and my problems<br />
are manifesting as the years pass on. I have a few<br />
serious conditions, but time will tell how it plays<br />
out—for now, the medication seems to be doing the<br />
trick. My big brother has recovered from open-heart<br />
surgery and is doing fantastically! I just finished<br />
watching him and his bride on a Zoom call. They<br />
live-streamed their wedding for family and friends<br />
that couldn't be there with them on their special<br />
day. I am so happy for him and hope and pray that<br />
his days will remain long and peaceful.<br />
Why am I sharing this with all you beautiful<br />
people? Just to say this, live each day to its fullest<br />
and love the people you are with. You never know,<br />
tomorrow might not come.<br />
I had quite a bit of time off from work as I was<br />
recovering and was able to dedicate it to building<br />
this issue of <strong>Topteen</strong>. I hope the effort shows and<br />
you will enjoy the results. This is the biggest issue to<br />
date and in my opinion, the most elegant one.<br />
I am so proud to share with you my eldest<br />
daughter's debut. She turned 18 and I can hardly<br />
believe it! I want to give a huge thanks and<br />
appreciation to Faymas Productions — Arnie and<br />
Felix, the photographer and videographer for the<br />
event. It's hard for me to give up the camera and<br />
trust others to do the job, but these guys were<br />
superb. Thank you!<br />
Ok, let's address the elephant in the room. Am I<br />
wearing a <strong>Topteen</strong> shirt? Yes, I am. I have to say, it's<br />
extremely stretchy! Don't worry, I won't send any<br />
that I have tried on, lol.<br />
I love what this publication has become and the<br />
messages of love and support from the parents<br />
and creatives involved, mean so much to me. I hope<br />
this issue reaches even further and helps shape the<br />
future of the magazine and shapes and inspires the<br />
lives of everyone who has been a part of it.<br />
Enjoy the issue, and as always, I love to hear<br />
from you. Feel free to drop me a note about your<br />
thoughts on the publication. I'm always available for<br />

As big as it may be of a milestone, turning<br />
eighteen didn’t change too much for me--<br />
other than the fact that I can now register a<br />
library card all by myself now!<br />
Although not much has changed, I’m still<br />
thankful enough to have the opportunity<br />
to share my special day with my family and<br />
friends. It’s a new chapter in my life that’s<br />
begun, adulthood! With that comes many<br />
responsibilities and new challenges that I’ve<br />
yet to face on this journey called life. Am<br />
I worried, or uncertain of what the future<br />
holds? Of course! University is right around<br />
the corner for me, and I’d be lying to say that<br />
I’m not nervous, but I’m ready to take on<br />
whatever life throws at me.<br />
We all have times of uncertainty in our lives,<br />
but it’s important to step out of our comfort<br />
zone in order to mature as an individual. Don’t<br />
dwell on the “what if’s” in life and take matters<br />
into your own hands so that in the future you<br />
can look back without regrets!<br />

When a photographer friend was looking for a model to<br />
help build her portfolio in 2020, Rylie was introduced to<br />
the world of modelling!.<br />
Since then, Rylie has had the opportunity to work with<br />
some amazing photographers and companies, and has<br />
been published multiple times internationally.<br />
This past Fall, Rylie and her family packed up and made<br />
the move from Ontario to Vancouver Island BC, where she<br />
is currently dancing competitively with a pre professional<br />
senior company team, and has also recently started<br />
dancing on pointe.<br />
She is looking forward to exploring her new home, and<br />
everything the West Coast has to offer. When she’s not<br />
dancing or modelling, she can usually be found FaceTiming<br />
with her Ontario friends, drawing, or hanging out with her<br />
pet hedgehog.<br />

Hi Haley! It's a pleasure to speak with you and thank you for lending your thoughts<br />
and advice with us.<br />

You have reached some amazing heights in your dance career. How old were you<br />
when you first sarted?<br />
| HALEY<br />
I began dance training at 18 months old; started competition at the<br />
age of 5 and continued through high school.<br />
TOPTEEN |<br />
You had just learned to walk and then started dancing?<br />
| HALEY<br />
Pretty much! It came naturally to me and I was involved in<br />
extensive training. It's something I have loved and continue to<br />
love. Throughout my school years I held many titles and won many<br />
awards - leading to scholarships.<br />
TOPTEEN |<br />
Your talent and passion opened many opportunities for you. What are some of your<br />
fondest memories?<br />
| HALEY<br />
When I was 11, I was chosen to appear on Abby's Ultimate Dance<br />
Competition in LA. There I was able to film for six episodes. It was a great<br />
experience and let me work with some great choreographers and judges.<br />
Once we finished that, I was given a chance to audition for Dance Moms<br />
and was chosen to be a part of "Candy Apples" I've also had the chance<br />
to do extensive commercial and print work.<br />
TOPTEEN |<br />
That is the dream of every dancer that wants to dance competively, to have the<br />
chance to work with the top names in the business.<br />
| HALEY<br />
Yes, most definitely! The other part that goes hand in hand with<br />
that experience is meeting and creating lifelong friendships with the<br />
other girls I had danced with. We all came from all different walks of<br />
life, but had the same love for dance.<br />
TOPTEEN |<br />
That leads us to today. What are you currently doing?<br />
| HALEY<br />
To pursue my love for dance, I moved to New York and am<br />
attending The Institute For American Musical Theatre. I am training<br />
five days a week in dance, singing and acting. This includes ballet,<br />
tap, musical theatre, commercial jazz , hip hop, contemporary,<br />
jazz, acting technique, masterclasses, performance opportunities,<br />
networking and more!<br />

Wow! That is quite the schedule.<br />
| HALEY<br />
It is! But I love it so much and am so happy with where I am now. It's<br />
all been worth it and I look forward to more opportunities.<br />
TOPTEEN |<br />
What's next for you?<br />
| HALEY<br />
My plan is to pursue Broadway.<br />
TOPTEEN |<br />
With everything you have accomplished so far, I know you will have nothing but<br />
success. Before we go, would you mind sharing some advice for aspiring teens looking<br />
to pursue their dance and modelling careers?<br />
| HALEY<br />
I started going to the gym and pushing myself to what I know I am<br />
capable of no matter how hard it was. On mornings I didn’t want to<br />
get up I pushed myself, I read quotes everyday, meditate, I started<br />
to manifest and started to read when I would feel stressed. Finding<br />
different ways to cope and deal with your emotions when things get<br />
hard are so important.

M<br />
y love for music started very early when I would hum<br />
little tunes before I could even talk. As I have gotten<br />
older, this passion never died. I started attending<br />
singing lessons to enhance my talent, and through this I got<br />
many performance opportunities.<br />
My first performances were always really scary but as I got<br />
more and more performance experience, my confidence rose.<br />
In recent years I started to accompany myself with instruments<br />
such as the piano and guitar which I find much more fun than<br />
singing with a backing track.<br />
My musical ability and passion doesn’t just stop there, I also<br />
love expressing my emotions and thoughts through music and<br />
have written my own original music. Due to Covid, many of my<br />
performances, gigs and competitions were cancelled which left<br />
me really upset but this also opened many online singing and<br />
songwriting competitions which I entered and also ended up<br />
wining.<br />
In 2021 I started busking at Markets and found my love for<br />
busking. I now busk every week at a variety of markets as well<br />
as gig at venues to spread my love for music to the community<br />
while making some money.<br />

As well as music, modelling has recently become a big<br />
part of my life. This all started when I entered The Photo<br />
Studio Australia’s model search where the winner was<br />
offered a free professional portfolio shoot valued at<br />
$5000. I was beyond excited when I received the call<br />
to tell me I had actually won this amazing opportunity.<br />
I really enjoyed choosing and styling my outfits during<br />
the weeks before the shoot and I was dying to get into<br />
the studio. On the day of the shoot I was very nervous<br />
but once it had started, modelling felt so natural to me<br />
and I had so much fun. After this shoot experience I<br />
knew I wanted to continue my passion for modelling. I<br />
started posting the photos from the shoot and finding<br />
every modelling opportunity I could.<br />
One of these opportunities was the Country Girl<br />
Management event which I was selected to participate<br />
in. During this event I was taught valuable lessons<br />
about the modelling industry and how to be my most<br />
confident self. Soon enough I was doing many shoots<br />
with local photographers and even making some<br />
income from it.<br />
I am beyond thankful for the opportunity that I<br />
received from the Photo Studio Australia because they<br />
helped me find my love for modelling as well as helped<br />
me get to where I am now.<br />

It 'll be okay...<br />
a sad break-up tale – by mr. g<br />
Canadian singer/songwriter, Shawn Mendes<br />
and Cuban-born popstar, Camila Cabello were a<br />
power couple, collaborating on songs with their<br />
latest, "Señorita" debuting at number two on the<br />
US Billboard Hot 100 charts and taking the number<br />
one spot shortly after. The Netflix special, Shawn<br />
Mendes: In Wonder, showcased the closeness the<br />
two shared and the story of how their relationship<br />
moved from friendship to love.<br />
In a tender moment, Shawn reflects on how he<br />
confided in Camila about how every song is about<br />
her. He then continues. "I don't think I'll ever be<br />
able to write songs that do it justice. That can really<br />
capture the things and the feelings with her."<br />
In a twist, it seems the most truthful songwriting<br />
that brought fans to tears with the honest and raw<br />
pain Shawn was feeling, was about Camila.<br />
While the news of Shawn Mendes and Camila<br />
Cabello might be not so new, they did announce<br />
the ending of the two-year romance back in<br />
November 2021. They cited the break-up to be a<br />
mutual decision and would remain friends.<br />
Sources say, "They realized they are in totally<br />
different places in their lives at this point, and it<br />
was time to end things."<br />
There seem to be no hard feelings between<br />
them, but it seems like Shawn is processing the<br />
heartache in his most honest way – through song.<br />
"Music is a platform to get to a place inside myself,"<br />
he shared in an Instagram post.<br />
'It'll be Okay' was released two weeks after<br />
their break-up was announced and the official<br />
video came out in January 2022. The lyrics have<br />
sent numerous fans on the sad road Shawn was<br />
traversing. His brokenness was unmistakable in<br />
each verse. Tears were shed, but as Shawn puts it,<br />
It'll be okay.<br />
What's next for these two? They started as best<br />
friends and then it became romantic, and now that<br />
it has ended, they both value the friendship that<br />
started it all. Life as a high-profile artist isn't easy at<br />
the best of times, but hopefully, they both will hold<br />
onto the love they shared once with no regrets.<br />

On November 17, 2021 Camila shared an Instagram<br />
story relating to her split with Shawn,<br />
“Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic<br />
relationship but our love for one another as humans is<br />
stronger than ever,” the statement read. “We started<br />
our relationship as best friends and will continue to<br />
be best friends. We so appreciate your support from<br />
the beginning and moving forward.”<br />
“There’s a lot of love and mutual respect between<br />
them, and they’ll forever have each other’s back,” an<br />
insider says.<br />
I've discovered several looped<br />
versions of the song for continuous<br />
sessions of listening. I have to admit<br />
I was extremely moved and touched<br />
by the song — leading me to research<br />
and share this with you guys. And,<br />
yes, I have been listening to it the<br />
entire time I have been putting this<br />
together.<br />
With lyrics like these and Shawn's<br />
haunting voice beautifully arranged,<br />
it's hard not to be pulled into the<br />
heartache with him.<br />

Sidney Ortlieb, is a teen model, actor and dancer from Edmonton,<br />
Alberta. She is also the founder and CEO of Sid’s Selfie World.<br />
The idea of a Selfie Studio came to life after struggling to find<br />
locations for photo shoots. “When you don’t have your own studio, it<br />
can be tricky to do photo shoots all year long, especially in Edmonton.<br />
Access to camera ready backdrops can make or break a photo session.<br />
At Sid’s Selfie World you don’t have to worry about bad weather, poor<br />
lighting or somebody telling you this is private property.” Sidney<br />
wanted to create a warm, safe environment filled with a variety of sets<br />
for anyone to enjoy. Some of the sets that may appeal particularly to<br />
models include: Midas Room with a gold coin adorned claw foot bath<br />
tub, Neon Room splattered with neon paint and lit with a black light<br />
to illuminate the colors, The Crayon Room - a black and white canvas<br />
waiting for a pop of color, and the ever changing seasonal pop up sets.<br />
Influencers or people who enjoy posting aesthetic Instagram photos<br />
will find an abundance of opportunities for social media content.<br />
But you don’t have to be a model to enjoy Sid’s Selfie World. There<br />
is fun and entertainment for the general public to take pictures of<br />
themselves, friends and family. A few great sets for group photos<br />
are: the dumpster scene complete with goofy billboard slogans and<br />
the bedroom scene where the bed is literally on the wall. Let your<br />
imagination and editing skills take over and create a mind blowing<br />
picture!<br />
Taking photos and creating life long memories is what it is all about.<br />
Sid’s Selfie World was an idea created out of the passion for modeling,<br />
but expanded into something for everyone. Located across the street<br />
from the Princess theatre, backing onto the Varscona Theatre, and<br />
steps away from the Fringe Theatre Complex, Sid’s Selfie World is at<br />
