ATTRACTING INVESTMENT
The expansion of India’s airport sector is crucial to ensuring seamless
connectivity for both domestic and international travellers. Airports have evolved
into global growth hubs. Apart from providing basic transportation from one
location to another, airports today provide enormous potential for businesses
to interact and thrive. The development of airports in India is accelerating.The
Government of India is leaving no stone unturned to expand the airport network
covering not just in the Tier-I cities but even taking steps to construct airports in
Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns and cities. The greenfield airport development will see
an investment of ₹2.3 trillion between FY2023-30. In this issue, we focused on
the airport industry and highlighted the prospects in our Cover Story section.

The Adani Group and Ballard
Power Systems recently signed
a non-binding Memorandum
of Understanding to assess a
collaborative investment case for
the commercialization of hydrogen
fuel cells in India's mobility and
industrial sectors. Both sides will
study various alternatives for
cooperation under the terms of
the MoU, including the possibility
of collaborating on fuel cell
manufacturing in India.
Thane station heritage makeover project
The Thane railway station will be upgraded and revived as a heritage structure by
Indian Railways. The reconstruction proposal includes upgrading the railway platforms,
as well as modifying the station and increasing passenger amenities. The station will
be given heritage makeover. The project has an initial financial allocation of ₹1,000
crore in the Union budget for FY-23, which also includes foot over bridges. Soon, the
railway ministry will receive a complete project report for approval.
Central Railways plan CSMT station
redevelopment
The redevelopment of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), formerly known
as Victoria Terminus, is also being planned by the Indian Railways under the publicprivate
partnership (PPP) model.The renovation proposal will include the creation of
commercial areas such as restaurants and cafes, as well as passenger parking spaces
within the terminal.
BAM DIgital Realty to setup Data Cente in
Chennai
Brookfield Infrastructure plans to create, own, and manage data centres in India in a joint
venture with NYSE-listed Digital Realty. Through this joint venture, both corporations
intend to invest more than $2 billion in India. BAM Digital Realty, a joint venture firm,
recently purchased a 10-acre land tract in Chennai's Ambattur neighbourhood for
about ₹230 crore as part of this plan. BAM Digital Realty plans to purchase land lots in
many Indian cities in order to construct data centre campuses to serve the demands of
global hyperscale service providers as well as foreign and local businesses.

acquire Butterfly
Gandhimathi
Crompton Greaves Consumer
Electricals Ltd (CGCEL), an electrical
consumer durables firm, is acquiring
an 81 percent share in Butterfly
Gandhimathi Appliances for a total
value of ₹2,076 crore. CGCEL has
inked a definitive agreement with
Butterfly Gandhimathi's promoters to
buy up to a 55 percent ownership in the
company for ₹1,403 per equity share,
for a total of ₹1,379.68 crore. It would
also acquire another 26 per cent by
making an open offer to Butterfly's
public shareholders.Internal accruals
and loans are expected to be used
to fund the transaction. In addition,
the CGCEL board has approved the
signing of two separate agreements
in Chengalpettu, Tamil Nadu, to
acquire 9.12 acres of land from
LLM Appliances for ₹63 crore
and 3.37 acres of land from V M
Balasubramaniam for ₹22 crore.
These land properties are next to

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed
between National Institute of Construction
Management & Research (NICMAR), a pioneer
institute of national importance for post graduate
education in the area of Construction Management
and BEXEL India Consulting on 01st Feb 2022 for
collaborating in the area of “Digital Transformation of
the Indian Construction Industry through Building
Information Management (BIM) techniques.”
The MoU was formalised by Prof. Dr. Anil Kashyap,
Director General of NICMAR and Mr. Juzer
Bastawala (GM-Tech, Bexel India) in the presence of
Prof. Dr. Sameer Jain and Prof. Dr. Sagar Malsane
representing NICMAR, while the signing ceremony
was virtually represented by Mr. Veljko Janic (CEO &
Co Founder, BEXEL Consulting, Serbia), Mr.
Ajithkumar Vadakkoot (MD), Mr. Arun Sivasankara
Pillai (CEO), Mr. Rajan Harikrishnan (GM-BD) and
Mr. Madhav Sreekumar (Manager - Education &
Training) of Bexel India Consulting.

leadership roles in Construction Industry.
Such a collaboration becomes all the more relevant
in the midst of Indian construction industry gearing up
to fully tap the power of digitisation, especially with
the Government mandate to fully utilise the 4D/5D
BIM capabilities in the projects of national importance
and with increasing number of multinationals’ eyeing
on India for outsourcing BIM Services.
