Shepard Seniors Sign to<br />
Play College Football<br />
The Shepard High School football program recently celebrated<br />
several seniors who signed a National Letter of Intent to play in<br />
college.<br />
Mick Sealy-Bakos signed with St. Ambrose University; RaSand Hall<br />
signed with Independence Community College; and, Robert Jones<br />
signed with St. Ambrose University.<br />

They join Roy Williams, who signed with Northern Illinois<br />
University last fall.<br />
The varsity girls bowling team from Shepard High School took ninth in state.<br />
Astros Complete Historic<br />
Season With Another First<br />
The varsity girls bowling team from Shepard High School, already riding a season of<br />
historic achievements, closed it in style.<br />
The Astros finished in ninth place among all teams in the state of Illinois. Previously,<br />
the team never had advanced to state.<br />
Team members broke boundaries throughout the season. They won the South Suburban<br />
Conference Red Division championship for the first time in dominant fashion. Taylor<br />
Sprenkle won first place; Kahlen Ranson came in second; Cameryn Landers took 3rd;<br />
Saniah Calvin placed 4th; and Tiffani Carlsen joined them on the all-conference team by<br />
taking 6th place.<br />
The team opened the state series taking second place at the IHSA Regional to advance<br />
to sectionals for the first time with team members taking three of the top four places<br />
(Cameryn Landers took 2nd, Kahlen Ranson 3rd, and Taylor Sprenkle 4th.)<br />
Finally, the team took 4th place at the IHSA Sectional at Lockport to qualify for the<br />
IHSA state finals for the first time.<br />
“This has been a year of firsts for this program! First time winning conference. First<br />
time advancing as a team from Regionals to Sectionals, and qualifying as a team for<br />
State. First time at State as a team, and advancing to day two and placing in the top 10!<br />
I am so very proud of these ladies!” coach said.<br />
Shepard Cheer to State Finals<br />
The varsity cheerleaders from Shepard High School took 3rd Place in their division at<br />
the IHSA Sectional hosted by Lockport High School on Saturday, Jan. 29.<br />
As a result Shepard advanced to the IHSA state finals.<br />
Under coach Felicia Marr the Astros have produced a sterling season with<br />
championships at the Andrew and Lincoln-Way East invitationals and at the South<br />
Suburban Conference tournament.<br />
The varsity cheerleaders from Shepard High School took 3rd Place at the sectional tournament<br />
at Lockport High School and qualifies for the IHSA state finals next weekend.
