FROM THE TOUCHLINE
I would like to wish you all a very warm
welcome to The Limestone Construction
Field, Monks Sports Club this afternoon
for our first league fixture of the new
season against Clock Face Miners in
the National Conference League
Division Two.
We welcome the players, supporters and
committee of Clock Face to Woolston and
hope that they have had a safe journey
and enjoy our hospitality.
It has been a very difficult two years for
everybody due to the COVID-19
pandemic but hopefully there is some
light at the end of a very dark tunnel, and
we can get back to some sort of
normality. My thoughts and prayers go
out to any of you who have lost loved
ones due to the corona virus or have
been affected in any way.
It seems like an age ago that we won the
Division Three title and moved up into
Division Two; we did manage two games
in 2020 before the season was curtailed
and with last season being regionalised it
will be very special this afternoon to finally
start our league campaign.
As you will have seen in the press over
the past few weeks, we have upgraded
our changing rooms thanks to a RLWC
grant and through the generosity of one
of our main sponsors, Limestone
Construction Ltd, who provided the
materials and workforce to
make our ‘home’ changing room so
fantastic. Many thanks to Zoe and Phil
Wrench of Limestone Construction.
Also, a massive thanks needs to go to
Club Senior Vice President Warren
Whalley for securing the funding with his
expertise in filling out the grant
application form and being down at the
club most days completing several jobs
and to Steve Moore who has been a very
‘hands on’ Chairman in ensuring the work
was completed.
Our NWML side begin their season this
afternoon with an away game at
Liverpool Lizards; these are a new team
to the league so it will be a case of going
into the unknown for the lads but I’m sure
Liam Lawton and Mal Mason will have the
boys well prepared..
Thanks for your attendance today and we
hope to see you again very soon.
Why not bring a friend along with you next
time and introduce them to the Rovers!!!
Enjoy the game
