SLORC ARRESTS THAIS<br />
Five Thai villagers — Narong Raman,24,<br />
and Thip Manowong, 34, from Ban Mae Tan<br />
| village; Aroon,24, and Tia,23, of Mae Sot<br />
district; and Suthas of Phrae Province— and<br />
six Karen labourers were arrested by Slorc<br />
troops from Battalion No. 28 on <strong>April</strong> 28 after<br />
crossig into <strong>Burma</strong> from Tha Song Yang<br />
Distria. Slorc soldiers capture a small KNU<br />
outpost further north of Pa-an at the weekend<br />
and arrested 11 Thai workers at a mobile saw<br />
mill factory in Karen controlled areas.<br />
It was reported that he 11 victims were last<br />
seen being tied up by the Slorc troops and<br />
their fate and whereabouts were still unknown.<br />
SLORC LAUNCHES NEW<br />
OFFENSIVE ATTACKS<br />
Slorc troops pounded a KNU (Karen National<br />
Union) Camp in Kyaik Don area , on May 15/<br />
16 and prepared to overrun the stronghold.<br />
Slorc used Swiss-manufàcturedPC-7 turboprop<br />
aircraft to attack Kyaik Don. Three days<br />
before the airraid, Slorc deployed more than<br />
1,500 reinforcement near Azin, where about<br />
2,000 Karen guerrillas and ABSDF students<br />
are based.<br />

CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING<br />
OF ABSDF HELD<br />
The First Central Committee meeting of the All<br />
<strong>Burma</strong> Students' Democratic Front (ABSDF)<br />
was held on 23 March 1993 at the Central<br />
Headquarters of the Front (Dawn Gwin). To that<br />
meeting, all the members to the Central<br />
Committee and Central Executive Committee,<br />
Alternate Central Committee members, and<br />
members of the Regional Committee in Southern,<br />
Southeastern and Eastern Region showed up.<br />
Chairman Dr Naing Aung presided over the<br />
ceremony and addressed to the gathering at the<br />
opening session.<br />
Chairman stated, "During the term of the Central<br />
Committee which emerged in the Third<br />
Conference of the ABSDF, we can cultivate<br />
warm and friendly relations within the Front and<br />
can create an environment in which all the Central<br />
Committee members has consulted vigorously<br />
and implemented collectively. "<br />
Furthermore, Chairman added that the Central<br />
Committee meeting will focus on organising<br />
within the Front, organising process inside the<br />
country to extend the liberated areas, and united<br />
cooperation with allied organisations. To transmit<br />
the democratic changes as a whole, every<br />
organisation must accept the principles of such<br />
changes and should start within each organisation
