COUNCIL CORNER Delabole Parish Council

The March meeting started with a short presentation from Lucy Muldowney who spoke about the ‘Foundations for Work’

scheme. Lucy is a mentor for individuals who are long term unemployed and who are looking to return to work. She is

organising workshops, drop in services and one to one meetings offering free help and guidance. There is a budget

available for training, transport costs, clothes for interviews and outreach courses in Maths/English and IT.

Our Parish Clerk will liaise with Lucy to provide further details via the Community Face book page, in this publication

and with posters around the village.

Our County Councillor, Dominic Fairman, spoke about planning applications being on temporary hold due to the high

level of phosphates being discharged into the river Allen. The Rivers Trust website shows that locally Delabole treatment

works are discharging 30% of sewage into the river Allen. Cllr. Fairman will raise this at the Community Network meeting

in June.

At the March PC meeting it was agreed to -

• Replace the PC mobile phone with a model that would be more functional.

• Renew the PC insurance which covers the Womble activity and Jubilee events.

• To purchase and maintain a further (3rd) Defibrillator at the Rockhead end of the village to serve the residents

of that area, Medrose Street and Rendle Street including the flats. This will be installed in the porch of the

Methodist Church and we thank them for accommodating this. The installation of this equipment will mean that

the village is covered as well as possible with potentially life saving equipment for residents and activities

occurring at the Methodist premises.

• A funding request towards setting up a Delabole Youth Club.

• Commit to installing CCTV to cover the King George V playing field and children’s play area.

• Complete repairs and maintenance to the public toilets to include motion sensor lighting as an economy.

• Begin to review, update and amend the PC policies.

May 2022 will mark the first year of Delabole Parish Council.

The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th May at 6.30 before the regular PC meeting at 7pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
