MCVwww.milfordconservation.orgThe Tern raft that has been positioned at the far end of the Pans will be cleaned in readiness forthe Terns/Black Headed Gulls breeding season.The Tern raft on the PansWe have also been given permissionto erect a live camera at the Pans.This is very much in the early stageof planning so watch this space.The first recorded sighting of a WhiteTailed Eagle seen from theObservatory occurred on Tuesday1 st February.MCV has also been given permission to make some improvements at Sturt Pond. Positioningsome weir boards across the water channel to the scrape. This will maintain the water levels andstop the scrape from drying out. Also to cut back some of the edges along the side of Sturt Pond.This will allow any birds loafing along the edge of the Pond to be seen from the bird hide and somaking recording the bird species and bird counts more accurate.The perching rails at Sturt Pond (shown above) are due to be replaced.Plans are in place to position a night vision camera near the bird hide at Sturt Pond to monitor thewildlife at night.Julie Hallows has been working with other members to upgrade our website. This should beavailable later in the summer.
