Phoebe J. Moore, PC. Phoebe J. Moore is the top-rated attorney<br />
in Tuscola County (Tuscola County Advertiser, 2021 & <strong>2022</strong>)<br />
and was also recently selected to the highly-selective group<br />
<strong>of</strong> Super Lawyers (top 5% by nomination) in Michigan. Phoebe,<br />
now in her 26th year <strong>of</strong> practicing law, commits her practice to<br />
passionately representing small business and individuals with<br />
their legal needs, primarily in the areas <strong>of</strong> domestic relations,<br />
small business transactions or commercial disputes, and real<br />
property law. She also is the lead prosecutor for the Michigan<br />
Department <strong>of</strong> Health and Human Services in Sanilac County.<br />
She remains firmly committed to her community service as well,<br />
acting as a Trustee <strong>of</strong> the Caro Community School Board and as<br />
a dedicated Rotarian for 22 years. Phoebe is a previous owner<br />

for youth sports, she purchased the magazine in <strong>April</strong> <strong>of</strong> 2016.<br />
Phoebe believes it is important for young people to be involved<br />
in athletics for many valuable reasons. In sports, athletes learn<br />
important life skills like teamwork and leadership that will help<br />
prepare them for the future. She also believes the exposure<br />
they receive from <strong>Varsity</strong> <strong>Monthly</strong> <strong>Thumb</strong> encourages them to<br />
continue and gives them the attention they deserve, for their<br />
commitment to sports. In <strong>April</strong> <strong>of</strong> 2019, Phoebe sold the<br />
magazine to us at Quad N Productions. Thank you, Phoebe, for<br />
your commitment to youth sports, and for trusting us to<br />

AS A FRESHMAN, CARTER PATRICK MADE AN<br />
IMMEDIATE IMPACT FOR CASS CITY’S BASKETBALL<br />
TEAM. THE QUESTION WAS COULD HE FOLLOW IT<br />
UP? PATRICK ANSWERED IT WITH A SENSATIONAL<br />
SOPHOMORE SEASON.<br />
The 6-foot guard checked in at nearly 18 points per<br />
game, while upping his rebounds to 5.7 per game. He<br />
chipped in 2.7 assists and 2.6 steals per contest.<br />
He scored a season-high 28 points against Sandusky.<br />
“I think the experience he got last year as a freshman<br />
really helped him,” said Cass City coach Aaron Fernald.<br />
“He’s put a lot <strong>of</strong> time into improving his game. All <strong>of</strong><br />
that is paying <strong>of</strong>f for him, which is neat to see.”<br />
Patrick made an impact during<br />
last year’s district tournament,<br />
when he helped the Red Hawks<br />
upset Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port.<br />
“Carter being up on the varsity,<br />
figured out what his role was and<br />
just kind <strong>of</strong> built to the district,”<br />
Fernald said. “He learned how<br />
to take on the scoring role. He<br />
embraced that district game.<br />
A lot <strong>of</strong> times, kids without<br />
experience kind <strong>of</strong> hide, but<br />
embraced it.”<br />
While Patrick is a naturally<br />
talented player, he has worked<br />
on his own to hone his skills.<br />
Fernald said, “He’s got a court in his backyard, and we<br />
played a ton <strong>of</strong> summer games. He can get his own<br />
shot, and he can get to the rim. He’s also become a<br />
really good rebounder, which has allowed him to take it<br />
the length <strong>of</strong> the floor. People are keying on him, which<br />
has forced him to try to find some easier shots.”<br />
As Patrick enters his final two seasons on varsity,<br />
expectations will continue to rise, as will the defensive<br />
pressure he faces from the opposition.<br />
“I think if he continues to stay focused, it will be easy<br />
for him to continue to grow,” Fernald said.<br />
ADELYN MOORE KEEPS ON SMASHING RECORDS<br />
AND REACHING NEW HEIGHTS. THE CARO JUNIOR<br />
TOOK HER GAME TO ANOTHER LEVEL THIS<br />
SEASON, LEADING THE TIGERS TO A 13-9 RECORD<br />
(8-4 GREATER THUMB WEST).<br />
For a third straight season, Moore was unanimously<br />
selected as All-<strong>Thumb</strong> Player <strong>of</strong> the Year by the <strong>Thumb</strong><br />
Sportswriters Association.<br />
The 5-foot-10 guard is only the second player to ever<br />
win the award three times, and no player has ever<br />
claimed it four times.<br />
Moore led the entire <strong>Thumb</strong> (girls and boys) in scoring<br />
(23.2 ppg) and rebounds (13.7).<br />
Her season highs were 35 points and 26 rebounds.<br />
Moore’s 5.6 steals and 1.0 blocks<br />
per game, along with her ability to<br />
be a lockdown defender, earned<br />
her the Chris Ogryski Defensive<br />
Player <strong>of</strong> the Year for a third time.<br />
She is only the second player to<br />
ever win that award three times.<br />
She recorded 16 double-doubles<br />
and two triple-doubles, while<br />
scoring in double figures in every<br />
game. She topped 1,000 career<br />
points this season and became<br />
Caro’s all-time leading scorer.<br />
In three years on varsity, Moore<br />
has scored in double figures in<br />
every game except for one.<br />
“Adelyn is a special talent, she<br />
just has a knack for a knowing where the ball is going<br />
to be, whether that is <strong>of</strong>f a missed shot or a pass, she<br />
just anticipates so well,” said Caro coach Jay Riley.<br />
“Offensively, she is so skilled, obviously, everyone knew<br />
she was our best player, and was <strong>of</strong>ten double or triple<br />
teamed, but still managed to be the driving force for our<br />
squad. She’s the best<br />
player on the floor.”<br />
