WELCOME Letter from the City Manager TEMECULA The right place for business, living and pleasure It comes as no surprise that Temecula is one of California’s most desirable places to live, work and play. Temecula has been ranked numerous times as “the best city in Riverside County to live in” due to its exceptional quality of life. In Temecula the people are friendly, the climate is healthy and there’s something fun to do every week. Our residents enjoy over 43 city parks and joint-use facilities. Among the facilities are three community centers, Temecula Valley Museum, Imagination Workshop Temecula Children’s Museum, Old Town Temecula Community Theater, aquatics center, a skate park and roller hockey arena. In Fall 2006, we celebrated the opening of the new Temecula Public Library and the 44-acre Patricia H. Birdsall Sports Park. Temecula hosts a variety of colorful events and entertainment year round including summer concerts, movies in the park, theatrical and musical productions and community parades. The City proudly sponsors major events including the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival, Spring & Fall Car Shows, International Jazz Festival, International Film & Music Festival, Temecula On Stage, Arts Festival and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, which appeal to people of all ages and interests. In addition, Historic Old Town and picturesque wine country accent Temecula’s many attractions. Temecula offers a growing and skilled workforce, a competitive business environment, easy access to major markets and more. The city’s economic growth is contributed to the cooperative effort by the City, its marketing partners and business community to create and ensure the presence of an environment where individuals and industry can grow and prosper. Every new year brings new schools, new roads, and new recreation and public facilities to meet the needs of a growing population. Temecula continues to report impressive growth in the retail, manufacturing, medical, telecommunications, and high tech sectors. Committed to local expansion, such prominent companies as Abbott, Millipore, Milgard Manufacturing and Plant CML have experienced significant growth. Future noteworthy projects include the Temecula Hospital and Medical Center and the Temecula Education Center. In addition to business growth, the City’s Capital Improvement Division is projected to complete over $50 million in transportation, infrastructure, and park improvements during fiscal year 2006 – ‘07. The city has a wealth of programs and activities to assist businesses, large and small. I encourage you to utilize the city’s new website: www.cityoftemecula.org. In the business category you will find information about doing business with the city. There’s even a guide to help businesses and residents understand the city’s development review process. It is the City Council’s philosophy to listen to its residents and businesses and to be sensitive to their needs as well as ensure that quality development can be created. Through this process, Temecula has created an environment where quality development is achieved without compromising. The carefully planned developments, events and programs have enabled Temecula to lay the foundation for a healthy and sound community that make it so attractive to businesses and residents. Shawn D.
